Rammjet
Try this: In Finder, Go menu -> Connect to Server Type in the FTP address (ftp://the.ftp.server.address) Hit Connect.
ksec
That is exactly what i did. I even try it in Cyberduck to make sure the FTP server was working. Example i put in ftp://ftp.apple.com It would not connect and say my username and password may be incorrect??

Example i put in ftp://ftp.apple.com It would not connect and say my username and password may be incorrect?? Just tried it and the site popped right up. Didn't ask for a user/password. Although it shouldn't really help, might want to try this Samba/Applefilesharing patch: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=26956

ksec
Thanks everyone so it just shows mounting on OSX86 should work. Just somehow it is not working on my side. And about the Samba Patch. Yes i have already got it installed prior to this this topic. So it doesn't help at all ><.
Wisam
Something wrong with your installation. I tried what you suggested and I mounted my ftp server. It should work.

Auggie
I'm glad I wasn't the only one with this problem. I am a college student and have an unlimited FTP folder I use it ALL the time as you can imagine, I've got like 50 or 60 gigs on it... but now that I'm in OSx86 world, I can't get it to mount or open it in any way... I'm running the JaS 10.4.6 --> 10.4.7 updated version. If anyone knows anything I'm doing wrong, I'd appreciate it. I using command + k and putting in address: ftp://First.Last@ochome.mycollege.edu/Stu...rst.Last\/ where First.Last is my name and mycollege is my college name... is that right to do? Thanks guys! ****EDIT**** I forgot to note that when I hit connect, it asks brings up FTP File System Authentication for me to enter my username (which is pre-filled correctly) and my password... when I enter my password and hit "OK" it tells me the finder cannot complete the operation because some data in my folder could not be read or written (error code -36) That made me think it was just a problem with the server or my specific folder but I opened it up on another Windoze machine and it worked just fine with no errors... anyone have any ideas? kjur
Not sure if it will help, but have you checked firewall options? I think FTP connections are blocked as default.
Rammjet
Try it without your folder name (ie - just try to connect to the server itself). There also seems to be two trailing slashes - is that a typo?
Auggie
I know it's weird, but the two slashes need to be there... not sure why and I don't know much about FTP at all, but that' the real address... my professors didn't tell me how to get the addresses... I Just mapped it as a network drive initially in XP and then used the address i got from the properties of it, to use it as an FTP server... and that has always worked until OS X. I'll try doing it without my folder specified (just connecting to the server) and I'll check on the firewall, and get back... thanks for the help. Auggie
Ok, here's my update: Tried connecting with out the personal folder specification (Auggie.Fisher) (I decided I don't really need to block that out... I trust this forum enough anyway...) No success though. I also checked to make sure I had FTP connections enabled, and I do. I remember now that it was one of the first things I did after installation. Thanks for looking into this and all of the tips... I'll keep checking back. Auggie
Well it doesn't seem like anyone is following this much anymore, but seeing as how other people were having some issues, I figure I'll post my "solution." Use Firefox to access your FTP... I like the "FireFTP" add-on for Firefox. It's the best I can do at the moment, at least I've got access, and some people might actually like it better, it's got nice and easy upload/download capabilities, simple and concise. Best of all, it's working.
