Hello to everyone,

My English very bad and I'm sorry for that. I have problem in clover.

My HDD or SSD GPT HFS+ not problem this config.plist. I am change GUI name in disk for clover boot. But my HDD or SSD GPT APFS same config not change name in clover boot menu. Only text is "boot macOS from Macintosh".

How can I change this "boot macOS from Macintosh" on only macOS High Sierra or any text.

You're doing it all wrong and adding Custom Entries in your Clover config is of no use for the purpose in mind!

You need to change your actual macOS partition names. If it's not already active, enable "show hard discs" in your Finder's Preferences. You'll then see your OS X/macOS partitions on your desktop.

Finder-Pref.jpg.a03651fb4690f6240f492fdec2b40a88.jpg

Shown_disks.jpg.489b654a417fb7f61a66294b9474f998.jpg

Clover uses those partition names.

Click on the partition's names and change them. That's it. Clover will then show/list those new names.

Simple, eh? You just need to learn a bit more about the OS you run with...

You dont understand me.

I am dont change my disk name.

I can change the clover boot name.
normaly clover boot name is “boot macOS from Macintosh”.
My disk is GPT HFS+ is not problem I am change is name “Start High Sierra” or any text.
but disk is GPT APFS same config not change is name only text “boot macOS from Macintosh”

Thank you my friend. Thank you so much.

My problem is clover configurator problem.

My disk UUID is :  8827CB24-740B-4E7B-93AE-A3D45D9A4D04

But Clover configurator is : BD47CCCF-602E-432C-8DA8-A956587DA745

Manuel change UUID successful. Thank you.

I have a new problem

macOS High Sierra Disk UUID : 8827CB24-740B-4E7B-93AE-A3D45D9A4D04

macOS Recovery Disk UUID : 8827CB24-740B-4E7B-93AE-A3D45D9A4D04

macOS High Sierra disk name "boot macOS from Macintosh" to "any text" no problem all is okay.

macOS Recovery disk name "recovery from recovery" not change for same UUID

Check out my tutorial on custom entries for APFS volumes.

Clover uses little endian form of UUID (without internal dashes) to distinguish between APFS volumes - refer to clean Clover boot log/bdmesg without Custom Entries in config.plist to determine the one for APFS Recovery eg looks like

2:491  0:000  - [08]: Volume: PciRoot(0x0)\Pci(0x11,0x0)\Pci(0x4,0x0)\Sata(0x0,0x0,0x0)\HD(2,GPT, 8827CB24-740B-4E7B-93AE-A3D45D9A4D04 ,0x64028,0x639BFB0)\VenMedia(BE74FCF7-0B7C-49F3-9147-01F4042E6842,FF1E181711F41A4C8639EC3734CCFD3F)

where 8827CB24-740B-4E7B-93AE-A3D45D9A4D04 is the UUID of the physical partition (Partition UUID is shared by all your High Sierra APFS volumes ie Preboot, macOS, Recovery and VM) and FF1E181711F41A4C8639EC3734CCFD3F is the unique volume UUID of your APFS High Sierra Recovery in little endian format.

Clover configurator incorrectly uses the big endian format for APFS volumes, so need to convert back to little endian without dashes eg in your screenshot,

Recovery has big endian Vol UUID  17181EFF-F411-4C1A-8639-EC3734CCFD3F

                 =little endian Vol UUID FF1E1817-11F4-1A4C-8639-EC3734CCFD3F

                 =little endian without dashes FF1E181711F41A4C8639EC3734CCFD3F

macOS High Sierra has big endian Vol UUID BD47CCCF-602E-432C-8DA8-A956587DA745
                              =little endian Vol UUID CFCC47BD-2E60-2C43-8DA8-A956587DA745
                              =little endian without dashes CFCC47BD2E602C438DA8A956587DA745

Note: The boot path for the Recovery volume includes the UUID (in big endian format) of the main macOS volume eg \UUID\boot.efi

To determine this, type in terminal

diskutil info diskXsY | grep UUID //where diskXsY refers to your main macOS volume

=BD47CCCF-602E-432C-8DA8-A956587DA745 from your Clover configurator screenshot

@xKaoSx,

You shouldn't have a space after boot.efi in your path:

eg for Preboot Path: Should be <string>\BD47CCCF-602E-432C-8DA8-A956587DA745\System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi</string>

                                       not <string>\BD47CCCF-602E-432C-8DA8-A956587DA745\System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi </string

for Recovery Path: Should be <string>\BD47CCCF-602E-432C-8DA8-A956587DA745\boot.efi</string>

                                     not <string>\BD47CCCF-602E-432C-8DA8-A956587DA745\boot.efi </string>

Please use proper plist editor to edit config.plist and directly enter data (eg XCODE or Clover Configurator), not simple text editor.

Here is sample_config.plist with your data for Preboot and Recovery.
