Please recommend a budget graphics card that works out of the box with little tweaks on 10.13

I have ga rx460 and do not remember the brand the rx560 too, running 10.13.5

and Nvidia g210 running 10.13.4..I suppose it will work with 10.13.5.

What a surprise! 

 

I installed GT710 and without any tweak to clover it just worked!!!

 

10.13.4, Dell Precision Tower 3620

Same results with GT 720 (2GB). It was plug-n-play as well.

All Nvidia Kepler will work OOB.

Older nvidia has no metal support. Newer nvidia has no official drivers, only WEB.

 

Intel graphics IvyBridge+ will work almost OOB.

 

AMD Radeon must be 7000+.

Ok. I get metal support with GT720. Looks like this is a pretty good budget card for typical use (web browsing, youtube etc)

I'm planning replace my old HD 6870 cause I'm getting freezes and locks with coloured stripes on screen even without heavy usage, sometimes only browsing the internet it happens.

 

My use is basically for CAD and Design, I don't play games too much, and I prefer to stay away from NVIDEA Web Drivers.

 

I would like an opinion about that GPU.

The card is working here, without Lilu an WEG, just need to place Lagotto FB and RadeonDeInit, I've made a custom connectors patch and now even Sleep/Wake is working, I'm just loosing sound after Wake, but no problem cause I have a USB sound.

 

The card is recognised as R9 285, is there a way to change it to the real name ( R9 380 ) using Clover?

 

I'm sharing my AMD9000 patch if someone has the same card (mDP/mDP/HDMI/DVI)

 

Also working in 10.14 DP2

Thanks for your advice. I've replaced my old card to new one GT710. The card is working!
