w.jeffrey
I have a movie in .bin format. I used Toast to mount it. Under the mounted image, there is a VCD file (I think) AVSEQ01.DAT. I was wondering what app works to view the file. I tried, VLC, Quicktime, Windows Media Player, and OSX DVD Player; none of which work. Any help would be great. Callysto
Quicktime should work. Can you drag the .dat file out of the .bin file and try that?
Numberzz
make it so it is .mov. if that doesn't work, try dragging it into iMovie
w.jeffrey
I dragged it out of the .bin file and it still didn't work. I can open the file, and seek around, but there is no video. Everytime I jump to a different place in the video, a very short distorted sound plays. How do i turn it into a .mov? Thanks
Rammjet
DAT is a VCD format Try VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Get a DivX plugin: http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/download/ Try VisualHub: http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/ Try Mpeg StreamClip: http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
McSkywalker
Rename the AVSEQ01.DAT as AVSEQ01.MPG It always worked for me.
Numberzz
BTW, this is off topic, but when emailing Office documents from win to mac usually results in a .dat file.
McSkywalker
Always zip them to avoid corruption while sending.
snackole
Yes, change the file extension to .MPG or .mpg both should work just fine.
