Hello

I am trying to install Mac OS High Sierra on Dell Optiplex 780 (tower) desktop

Specs are:

Dell Optiplex 780 (tower)
4GB DDR3 Ram
Core2Duo Processor
ATI Radeon HD5450 512MB

I have created Bootable Usb, Clover method, copied kexts, config.plist and DSDT from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312656-guide-macos-sierra-1012-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/and http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312656-guide-macos-sierra-1012-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/page-47#entry2484626

I tried using bootflags GraphicsEnabler=Yes/No
npci=0x2000 and npci=0x3000

Replaced kexts and used different versions of FakeSMC but no success. My Screen doesnot stuck at DSMOS has arrived.. After this line, 2 or 3 more lines show up very fast and then display is vanished from screen.

See panics video here:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/hackintosch/permalink/10156304726097446/

i think the problem is GPU

idk if kext work for u, but u can check here

https://github.com/vit9696/WhateverGreen

I checked WhateverGreen.kext .. Now see what happens

In Verbose:

Screen stucks for 5-10 minutes at following three lines

kextd stall [0] (240s) 'AppleACPICPU'

kextd stall [1] (240s) ...

kextd stall [2] (240s) ...

Then it leads to Black screen with Apple white logo with loader. can you please confirm how can i fix this..

Now Very Strange thing is happening.

I boot from USB, used NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext, VoodooHDA.kext , FAKESMC.kext

Used bootflags:

kex-dev-mode=1 nv_disable=1 -v

Every thing went fine. I have installed MacOS on My HDD, and entire process went very last message : Only One minute remaining or something like that.  and then computer shut down. I restarted computer, and selected HDD for boot

Apple Black screen with logo came in front and loader completed to 80% or somewhat like that..

and then computer restarted itself and showing me MacOS Utilities Screen again..

      This is a brief guide on how to create a vanilla El Capitan (also same process for Sierra) OS X Installer USB with an updated prelinked kernel containing FakeSMC.

      It is tailored for those users who want to understand the “nuts and bolts” of how to create an installer and also to help brush up on their terminal skills (rather than have one made for them with the numerous automated “tools” available or even Apple’s createinstallmedia) :

      Specifically, it is also a “Proof of Concept” which shows that installation is possible without even having to rely on boot loader kext injection.

      Prerequisites
      Existing Yosemite installation (or Mavericks - see post#4 for steps 7,8) “Install OS X El Capitan.app" downloaded to the Applications folder Pacifist FakeSMC.kext - Slice or Kozlek branch Bootloader - Clover or Chameleon 8GB or larger USB drive (16GB recommended), formatted HFS+ (MBR or GUID) named “Installer”
      Procedure
      1.  Boot into Yosemite with the kext-dev-mode=1 boot flag
      2.  Open OS X terminal and type the following lines, followed by <Enter> after each line.
          The image restore and file copying may take a while to complete, and at the end of the process, the Installer volume is renamed to “OS X Base System"....

      sudo -s hdiutil attach /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg asr restore -source /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg  -target /Volumes/Installer -erase -format HFS+ -noprompt -noverify rm /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System/System/Installation/Packages cp -av /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/Packages /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System/System/Installation cp -av /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.chunklist /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System diskutil unmount /Volumes/OS\ X\ Install\ ESD exit 3.  Right click on the “OS X Base System” Volume and click “Get Info”

      4.  Click on the lock icon and untick “Ignore ownership on this volume”

      5.  Extract/Copy the El Capitan Kernels folder into /System/Library/ of the USB with Pacifist.  NB It is found in the "Essentials.pkg" in /System/Installation/Packages

      6.  Delete or Rename the original /System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel —> OG.prelinkedkernel

      7.  Copy FakeSMC.kext and other necessary kexts (e.g. VoodooPS2Controller.kext for laptops) into the /Library/Extensions folder of the installer USB using Finder.

      8.  Back in terminal, type the following lines, followed by <Enter> after each line to rebuild the prelinkedkernel…..

      sudo -s chmod -R 755 /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System/Library/Extensions chown -R 0:0 /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System/Library/Extensions touch /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System/System/Library/Extensions kextcache -u /Volumes/OS\ X\ Base\ System exit Any errors should be noted but the output below is normal e.g.

      9. Install your Bootloader targeting the OS X Base System volume

      10.  Boot your system with the USB without injected kexts into the OS X Installer GUI....

      Post Install
      The original prelinked kernel in a fresh install of El Capitan will also lack FakeSMC ie it will only be linked to Apple signed kexts.  In order to boot into El Capitan the first time around without boot loader kext injection, the PLK needs to be rebuilt for the El Capitan volume like we did for the installer:

      1.  Boot into Yosemite with the kext-dev-mode=1 boot flag
      2.  Delete or Rename the original /System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel for the El Capitan volume —> OG.prelinkedkernel
      3.  Copy FakeSMC.kext and other necessary kexts (e.g. VoodooPS2Controller.kext for laptops) into the /Library/Extensions folder of El Capitan using Finder
      4.  Back in terminal, type the following lines, followed by <Enter> after each line to rebuild the prelinkedkernel.  In this example, the El Capitan volume is named "El_Capitan" - change if you have named it something else...
      sudo -s chmod -R 755 /Volumes/El_Capitan/Library/Extensions chown -R 0:0 /Volumes/El_Capitan/Library/Extensions touch /Volumes/El_Capitan/System/Library/Extensions kextcache -u /Volumes/El_Capitan exit 5. Install your Bootloader targeting the El Capitan volume.  This step is only necessary if you are installing El Capitan on a new drive without existing boot loader (not required if installing on a disk with existing boot loader beside Yosemite).
      6. Reboot your system without injected kexts into El Capitan!

      Updates for Sierra and High Sierra   Custom Prelinkedkernel Generator Tool I have made a custom prelinkedkernel generator "PLK.tool" for Sierra + El Capitan.  Instructions:   1.  Download and extract the attached BaseSystem_PLK.tool.zip into your ~/Downloads folder.   2.  Copy any extra kexts necessary for booting your hack to ~/Downloads/BaseSystem/ExtraKexts (e.g. FakeSMC, VoodooPS2Controller), making sure SIP is disabled. 3.  Copy BaseSystem.dmg to ~/Downloads/BaseSystem  4.  Open terminal and run the following commands... cd ~/Downloads/BaseSystem chmod +x PLK.tool ./PLK.tool ---> supply your admin password ---> will place your new custom prelinkedkernel on the desktop.       macOS High Sierra bypass Firmware and MBR checks in post#13.

      Hello,

      I have installed 10.13 High Sierra on Dell Opti Plex 780 and i have Issues with Graphics Card

      Specs are
      8 GB RAM
      Quad Core Q9400 processor
      NVIDIA GeForce 210 (1GB ) Graphics
      500 GB SATA HDD

      i have followed following guide to create bootable USB http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/332512-guide-macos-high-sierra-1013-dell-optiplex-780-760/
      I have used DSDT / config.plist etc from Above URL and kexts provided by @chris1111 in another post. (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312656-guide-macos-sierra-1012-dell-optiplex-780-760-755-790-990/page-70)

      I managed to boot into Mac OS X, Sound is working fine but i am still having issues with Graphic Card. I used bootflag nv_disable=1 .. If i remove this bootflag, i am unable to boot into OS
      I am getting a very low Graphics Memory (3MB only) .. Can any one, share kexts or drivers for NVDIA Geforce 210. I have also tried NVIDIA Web Driver, but it is not working..

      I also have other graphics card available NVIDIA Geforce 120 and ATI RADEON 7XXX .. i can go with those, if they are supported in Mac OS 10.13.X

      Waiting for reply..

      I actually started the topic here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/328853-question-about-acpi-and-graphic-card/?view=findpost&p=2521583 but somehow my browser keep crash if i open that page, so i created the follow up in this (Yosemite for AMD) section...

      The short version of my current situation is that, after i bought a used graphic card (which is Nvidia GT-720) I can install Yosemite 10.10.0 and/or 10.10.1 in my hardisk with no problem. However, when i tried to boot into my drive, it got stuck at 'Waiting DSMOS..." i've read that the problem is weather FakeSMC.kext is missing or wrong version... however, i've tried many FakeSMC version from 4.0 to 6.9.xxx to 6.25.xxxx and it all end up the same.. it stuck at waiting  DSMOS.. is there any other way to get pass that waiting  DSMOS ? some boot flag to try maybe?

      This thread devoted to share information about different SMC keys found or investigated anywhere.

      What are they?
      SMC keys is a somehow language to speak between macOS and hardware microcontroller presented in real Mac and absent in Hackintosh.
      They inform macOS about Hardware ID and current status. Moreover macOS can write something through SMC protocol to control hardware.
      FakeSMC ( ©Netkas) is the driver to emulate this microcontroller on PC having no such device which is necessary to boot macOS here.
      But FakeSMC contain only ~20 keys while real Mac answers ~200 keys.
      Some keys we added by HWSensors project reporting temperatures, FAN speeds, voltages etc.
      Some keys model dependent was added by Clover to be sure if user change model in GUI then corresponding keys will be changed automatically.
      Clover sets
      LogDataHub(&gEfiMiscSubClassGuid, L"RPlt", &gSettings.RPlt, 8);
      LogDataHub(&gEfiMiscSubClassGuid, L"RBr", &gSettings.RBr, 8);
      LogDataHub(&gEfiMiscSubClassGuid, L"EPCI", &gSettings.EPCI, 4);
      LogDataHub(&gEfiMiscSubClassGuid, L"REV", &gSettings.REV, 6);
      LogDataHub(&gEfiMiscSubClassGuid, L"BEMB", &gSettings.Mobile, 1);
      BEMB - is a mobility sign. =0 -desktop, =1 - mobile.
      REV - SMC hardware revision, changes sometimes with Apple updates.
      RPlt, RBr and EPCI is hardware capabilities, noticed used in Intel HD drivers.

      Structure.
      All SMC keys consists of name 4 ascii chars as 32bit integer, type and value.
      Types:
       "flag", len 1
       "ui8 ", len 1
       "ui16", len 2
       "sp78", len 2
       "ui32", len 4
      "fp2e", len 2
      "fpe2", len 2
      "{rev", and others...

      More keys will be discussed in the thread

      Feel free to share you knowledge and ask about noticed keys.
