As far as I remember, in Sierra 10.12.6 there was no such issue.

I don't know either why I am having this issue, I remember being able to open the display preferences form the system preferences,

Is there anything I can attach to make you understand the problem ?

I replaced the folders and couldn't boot, I had to uncheck "Drop All OEM SSDTs" or something similar in order to boot again. The display pane is still not working.

Drop All OEM SSDTs should always be set to false (with few exceptions).

It may be an issue related to EDID.
