Hi Taruga

 

I try to use your AppleHDAPatcher V1.7 to path my Toshiba notebook A105-S4384. The dump file I try three before ALC861, ALC861B and D. Never show up and no show. I need to install this again. Let my computer has output sound. Can you please tell me how to patch step by step. Thanks

Edit: The following guide is for getting ALC882 sound out working. The process may work with any ALC8xx chipset with a few changes. See the Appendix at the end of the guide for how to make those changes.

 

The Guide

 

I have yet to see the definitive guide here on getting ALC882 sound working. The best one I've seen comes from aRt on another forum and this is it (with some modifications):

 

How to get HD audio working - sound for ya!!!

 

1) Backup AppleHDA.kext:

In Terminal, type:

CODE

cd /System/Library/Extensions

sudo mkdir audio_backup

sudo mv AppleHDA.kext audio_backup/

 

2) Edit AppleAzaliaAudio.kext:

In Terminal, type:

CODE

cd /System/Library/Extensions

sudo pico AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/Info.plist

Search for IOHDAudioCodecVendorID (press Ctrl + W)

 

Find:

<key>IOHDAudioCodecVendorID</key>

<string>0x10ec0880</string>

Change <string>0x10ec0880</string> -- to -- <string>0x10ec0882</string>

 

Exit pico: press Ctrl + O to save and then Ctrl + X to exit

In Terminal, type:

CODE

sudo pico AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAzaliaController.kext/Contents/Info.plist

Search for IOPCIPrimaryMatch (press Ctrl + W)

 

Find:

<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>

<string>0xNNNN8086</string> (where NNNN are any 4 characters)

Change <string>0xNNNN8086</string> -- to -- <string>0x27d88086</string>

(note: for ALC882, the string is probably correct without any edit)

 

Exit pico: press Ctrl + O to save and then Ctrl + X to exit

 

3) Clean up the system:

In Terminal, type:

CODE

sudo diskutil repairpermissions /

sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

sudo chmod -R 755 AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

cd /System/Library

sudo rm -rf Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache

 

4) Then, reboot and enjoy sound out of two channels.

I drag this (see my codec attachment) into the patcher, when I reboot I got no sound icon at all. (before, on a clean efi_pc leopard install I did have audio OUT only. I wanted to add mic IN)

How to diagnose the problem? thanks

Patching with 1.16 which I found somewhere worked (this doesn't seem to be in the OP anymore) kind of - mute does not work which sucks a lot. Anyone get mute working with their STAC9274D and Leopard?

its not working for me either, i tried every hdapatcher. the alc883 ich8 says its detected on both spdif in and out but no sound when i restart =( . With the AzaliaAudio im getting sound from my speakers.

Notebook or Desktop ? Tiger or Leo ?

One thing I see here, is that people report problems and lots of people view the same (no specs, little info). This way, most of us don´t answer and sometimes is something simple to solve.

 

Also, I´ve sent a PM to one the the forum admins to try the move to XLabs area, to have sub areas and to organize things better.

I need have a main thread with the patches and sub threads for Realtek, Sigmatel, etc to split issues and avoid the mess this thread is at the moment (and it will get even worse).

 

As some of you know, I working and a new patcher version with major changes and also on a new audio driver.

Regarding the last one, this has been a hard work for the last 7 or 8 months :D

My friends call me crazy to dedicate so much time to all these audio projects.

The new Patcher will come first, coding a driver takes a lot of time and patience.

I already have the main engine of the driver almost done, it´s 'talking' with the sound codec but It needs a lot of more work.

At a first stage I want it to work properly with alc882 and then I´ll make the necessary changes to start working with all HD Audio codecs. There are many bugs to fix and things to change and improve.

If I don´t get an answer here regarding my request for a better way of organizing my stuff the users posts, maybe I´ll have to move to other place and open my own forum and try to setup things the way I need as you all understand it will be better.

I want to start gathering info, posting info of working codecs, codecs that need more work, the ones that don´t work at all, etc

Resuming all of this:

I (and all of us) need a lot more information, faq´s, help, docs, how to´s, etc so I (and we) can help each other.

And I work with V1.77& failed, did I need change something in the codec, vendor id/subsystem id or revision id?

 

 

once more... what are you hardware specs, what sound codec vendor and model, notebook or desktop ?

 

I´m sick or having to answer posts like this.

Someone got the AD1986 HD working?With 0x11d41986 and 0x27d88086
I did, but only sound output. I didn´t had time with that one to fix inputs and other outputs.It´s a complex codec and I only had a few minutes with that PC. If i remember well, AppleHDA Patcher v1.13 has the changes I used to test it.
This is the core dump of sigmatel 9271D that posted on this forum by one guys.STAC9271D.txtAlso, when AppleHDA v2.0 is out? Does it support STA9271D?Thank you.
Have you tested the patcher with this codec ? I don't the status of it, if it works or not.One thing I will do, is to create a reference page to check codec status, it is working or not, if it need more work, if doesn´t work at all, which hardware was tested, etc. It will help us all.

 

 

There´s no estimated release date for version 2.00, I have it almost done, but I still need to code pin configs for all sigmatel codecs,

and most important, the multi os suport. It´s working for leo at the moment, but it will suport from 4.8 until leo. The testing time of this version will take some time also. I have a lot to check and test myself.
