stephenball1
I just installed 10.4.8 on my pc. At the end of the install, i rebooted the computer manually, b/c the installation took too long to reboot the pc. After reboot, i boot from chain0 off boot.ini. the screen goes through the twisting lines and "loading darwin/x86"(not sure of exact words) then it displays "starting darwin/x86". Screen shows black, then computer reboots. Any help? running a pentium D 840 3.2 GHz ECS 865-M7 800 FSB
Aesop69
Sounds like you have the 1st released dvd. You need the re-release. (Any package downloaded on any other torrent site is invalid. This release has a new grouping of files Thus, ANY OTHER RELEASE DOWNLODED ANYWHERE ELSE BUT ****/******** IS INVALID.) p.s. I just spent the last 4 days on the 1st release, with the same error as you. working on the re-release now.

KennyTheGeek
I get the same problem, to get a screen signal, press f8 before you see the loading darwin part. then type "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32@75" to make it work. Also try adding the -v sign to see why it reboots. rerelease md hash: a1960475511ffb5ecc7447ac7d71d44c

stephenball1
Thanks for the replies. I realized that I had been installing both Semthex and Mifki's kernels at the same time. I reformatted and now get to the white mac screen with the no smoking sign
