Here's what worked

Installed on a SATA test partition.

Backup these from 10.4.5 before running the 10.4.8 Combo update:

AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext

AppleSMBios.kext

IOATAFamily.kext

OpenGL.framework

DiskArbitration.framework

SP.PlatformReporter.spreporter in System Profiler Folder

SKPlugins Folder within the Core Services Folder

1. Normal install 10.4.5 Myzar

2. Apple 10.4.8 Combo Update

3. Replace items above

4. Replace Kernel with Mifki kernel

5. If using GMA 900 graphics, remove GMA950.kext

6. Repair disk permissions

7. Restart

Hope this helps

fwiw, i installed JaS 10.4.6 last night, tho I excluded any patches (including the 10.4.6 update) so afaik thats basically a 10.4.4 unpatched system (more or less). i then applied the 10.4.8 combo update, then IOATAFamily.kext, AppleSMBIOS.kext and mach_kernel (with mifki's v2).

i installed all this from a second partition.

it didnt work ;) got to blue screen with mouse pointer.

Yeah it has to be the 10.4.7 install dvd's intel combo update or 10.4.8 intel sse3 combo update from me.

any install dvd from me is amd patched, and some amd patched are getting installed to what YOU THINK is an unpatched 10.4.4 install, its not.

so you are getting CSSeed.service crashes and Coreservicesd crashes.

I thought you would have known the dvd is amd patched.

Also you could use an unpatched restore dmg.then the 10.4.8 combo update and new kernel and old smbios + new ioata edited with your dev id.

Nice tutorial

I too make some upgrade with 10.4.5 myzar I find this iso very fast and compatible with my hardware. In my opinion it was best iso for Intel machines until 10.4.8 Jas, It's corrupt but I got it working and is damyd fast now. It's whole new word for me.

Hi JaS,

Yeah, I figured it wouldnt work, as I was pretty sure it was patched. Unfortunately I no longer have the 10.4.4 restore disc.

I guess i'll just wait for your reseed 10.4.8 disc :)

cheers
