  1. DP3 up and running!

I ran into this same problem. Try selecting your "DP3 install" for booting, from your existing version of chameleon (10.6 or 10.7), not from the version created for 10.8. Hopefully, you have a working 10.6 or 10.7 system on a separate drive or partition.
  2. I've had the kext error message before. A few things you can try that have been successful for me. 1. Copy the offending kext to desktop, then delete it from Extensions folder, then copy it back from the desktop, repair permissions and reboot. 2.Install it using Pacifist.
  3. Semthex/DaemonES Kernel Differences

Thanks, I was hoping for something more specific. If it helps, this is feedback from a kernel debugging script using the same system. Only change was the kernel. Only difference I see is Semthex kernel "enables INTEL features" on line 4. Mifki kernel: "DetectFSB_NonClocked() family f, model 4 DetectFSB_NonClocked() family f, model 4 Bus freq: 200000000 on line 4-6 thanks semthex.txt mifki.txt
  4. -- How to Upgrade the Kernel -NEW VERSION/UPDATED

    2. Open up Terminal and then type sudo ./script.sh . It would automatically grab the latest kernel from semthex's site [resume-able and with Progress], creates a backup of your current 'working' kernel , Fixes Permisson and Auto-Reboot [With a Prompt] Had to eliminate the ( . ) in front of /script.sh for it to work. works great thanks kaos
  5. First, I wanted to say thanks to all those working hard, perfecting new kernels. Does anyone know the difference between the DaemonES and Semthex kernels? If I run the exact same system but replace the kernels only, the DaemonES kernel is fine, but the Semthex kernel causes the machine to freeze (usb mouse freezes) about 5 seconds after the full desktop appears. I've tried the IOUSBFamily-261.4.2 replacement and it didn't work, besides many other kext replacement and framework replacement files. Would like to test both kernels if possible Any suggestions most appreciated thanks again kaos
  6. Here's what worked Installed on a SATA test partition. Backup these from 10.4.5 before running the 10.4.8 Combo update: AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext AppleSMBios.kext IOATAFamily.kext OpenGL.framework DiskArbitration.framework SP.PlatformReporter.spreporter in System Profiler Folder SKPlugins Folder within the Core Services Folder 1. Normal install 10.4.5 Myzar 2. Apple 10.4.8 Combo Update 3. Replace items above 4. Replace Kernel with Mifki kernel 5. If using GMA 900 graphics, remove GMA950.kext 6. Repair disk permissions 7. Restart Hope this helps kaos
  7. installation of the vitaliy kernel

Congrat's to all who have conquered 10.4.8. Has anyone updated using Myzar 10.4.4/5 DVD, then updated to Jas .6 then Jas .7 then Jas .8 and now the newest 10.4.8 kernel? Does updating to the new 10.4.8 kernel need to be done through Jas' DVD only. I've tested this on multiple partitions using multiple drives and every time I install the raw 10.4.4 from the Myzar DVD, I can't boot to any of the other separate drives or partitions. I've alsoadded the new 10.4.8 kernel and kext after updating to Jas 10.4.8 and installing the apple 10.4.8 combo over it and I get kext mod errors when it boots up. any help appreciated kaos

  9. Last time I got the "sleeping try again" message, I had to replace the "Core Services" framework folder with one from 10.4.5 or 10.4.6 myzar update#1. kaos
  10. Good News: 10.4.6 Myzar V2

Myzar, it looks like the "Application Services Framework" folder is the problem with the version2 update. Replaced version2 "Application Services Framework" folder with version1. Toast PPC app installed and running. My steps: 1.Myzar 10.4.5 install 2.Myzar 10.4.6 update version2 3.Replaced "Application Services Framework" folder Also, for those that update directly from 10.4.5 to 10.4.6 version2, after rebooting, if you get a black screen with horizontal lines, the problem is the "GL Engine Bundle" resource, located within the OpenGL Framework resource folder. Replace that file with a earlier version. I believe I used the one from 10.4.5 or 10.4.6 update1. kaos

  15. 10.4.6 Upgrade Released

Are you working from more than 1 bootable system? I've replaced some of the disabled framework folders also, and they have caused my system to be unbootable, but I did backup before I replaced, and am able to boot up fine. kaos
