Hi everyone.

I have succesfully installed  sierra on my computer, and activated graphics using a fix for nvidia.

It is a skylake (h110 chipset), so I have to use imac 17,1 SMBIOS.

The problem is that sometimes and suddenly, some icons when apps are launched get fixed at a place in the screen.

Also I have appreciated that launching some apps like system information may launch the app in a very small size in the screen.

This is very strange, because macOS reports Metal support (so OpenCL is working), and using IORegistryExplorer show that the card has acceleration.

I don't know what is going on. I bought the 710 because I know that Kepler cards are easier to install.

Note that I'm using a VGA monitor, but I have tested with HDMI and it seems to be the same.

Have you ran AGDPfix in order to make it work? If yes, can you take a screenshot of the situation?

Yes, I ran AGDPfix, it worked but with this glitches I told you. Here are the screeenshots.

You can see VRAM is well recognaised, but there are the little icon ghosts and app ghosts.

Additionally Safari doesn't render very well.

I got almost the same setup as you, only I got a MSI GT710 1GB. Never experienced this. What is your GPU model?

It is a Gigabyte model. Gigabyte GT710 2GB

It was the only one that fit in my sff tower (other models got the cooler too big)

I tried to install el capitan, but, even worse, I can't enable graphics acceleration. I can't even boot with nv_disable=1 after triying to install nvidia web drivers.

You are not supposed to install Web Drivers for this one. Didn't work without the drivers?

No, it didn't. In Sierra sometimes without the web drivers the system boots to black screen (installing drivers fix that, even if booting Apple drivers, but doesn't fix ghost windows and icons). I'm so confused. Maybe changing smbios to Mac Pro 3,1 and injecting a SSDT for processor may do the trick.

It's funny that my previous config worked fully in a week (AMD processor and low end Nvidia), but my new config can't haha.

Are you running Sierra? My GT210 works fine in Sierra but the screen goes black after first-stage boot and the display will flicker on and off for a few seconds before continuing on to second stage boot and desktop.

I'm wondering if it's due to my card not having Metal support, or if it's just an issue with Sierra.

I realised that ghost icons where caused by finder. If you force restart finder, you can get rid of them. I think it is a problem by a framework or extension that apple uses for his native apps (because the safari bad rendering too).

It could be metal doing strange things?
