hannele2
I just about managed to get Yosemite running thanks to the help from Dwarfy's tweaks and Allan. I need to get some graphics drivers to start with. As I was logging on for the first time, I was asked to configure the network connection. I skipped it because it was a bit difficult and I didn't have the information handy. I thought I could do it later. But now when I try - I have problems. When I open the Network Setup Assistant, all the options are greyed out. "Telephone modem" is pre-selected and I can't seem to change it - I have broadband and am using Ethernet to the broadband modem. Diagnostics is not detecting the LAN connection either. Clicking the plus sign In the Networks selection generates an error box "Preferences Error". Does anyone know a solution for this?

hannele2
Thanks! But I can't go online..... So I can't download. Can I do it in Windows and put the files on a stick and then use it in the Mac?

Dwarfy
As far as I know from the other thread, she got ASUS z97 Pro, which got a very good intel LAN NIC, the Intel i218v.
Dwarfy
I added Intel Mausi ethernet kext in her EFI/Clover/Kexts/10.10. it is the latest Mausi kext, which got modified by Mieze to have more support for 10.11. Not sure if that is causing any problems. However, the kext is easy to remove, but why do that when that is the kext you need. I suggest to try this fix: Go to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and delete these files/folders: CaptiveNetworkSupport Com.apple.airport.preferences.plist Com.apple.eapolclient.configuration.plist NetworkInterfaces.plist Go to System Preferences > Network, select all available connections and hit the Minus button to delete them, then hit Apply. Reboot Go to System Preferences > Network, hit the Plus button to add the devices back, but be sure to add Ethernet first. Good luck, I know you can do it. Just never give up, you've come so far with this. Awesomesauce! Edited July 26, 2016 by Dwarfy

Unfortunately this board hannele2 got does not have inbuilt wifi card.

hannele2
Oh there is, nice awesome! Take your time, we're happy to help. I didn't need to do anything! Just start Yosemite for the second time! So you were quite right that you had included the correct Ethernet drivers in the build that you made. I saw it too - in the verbose dev startup mode. Next thing for me to do is to try to install some proper drivers for the graphics card..... The graphics is a bit shaky right now. It's not right..... And sound!
