I already disabled Wake on Lan and googled a lot for BIOS settings but nothing helps. Can anyone help me with that issue? Thanks Hello there, This problem occurs because your DSDT is not configured correctly. Do you use a custom DSDT? If so post it here. However, if you're interested in fixing this problem by yourself, below is a link that will help you. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/196771-ga-ex58-and-ga-x58a-dsdt-native-power-management-modifications/ Best of luck. Ed Ding
I am using some files which were posted somewhere on the net and everything worked right away (except shutdown) Unfortunately I cant remember the site Here is this folder of mine as a zipfile: EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/ https://www.dropbox.com/s/3hwn9de3011rk5w/Archive.zip?dl=0 and here the kexts in 10.11 folder https://www.dropbox.com/s/x7k86fqhxuo9g86/10.11.zip?dl=0 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312172-i6700k-gigabyte-z170x-gaming5-keeps-rebooting/#findComment-2237497 Share on other sites

Ed Ding
Hahaha! That sounds encouraging Why does everything except shutdown work then??? Of course I am interested. What I really need to avoid is a complete reinstall since I invested hours in installing software and plugins on this workstation Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312172-i6700k-gigabyte-z170x-gaming5-keeps-rebooting/#findComment-2237503 Share on other sites

Now about your question, you have some patches, thrown, in different files and probably you use some of the clover's fixes, that's what keeps your system "alive". Let's begin then. Do you have windows or linux installed? Are you familiar with linux or how to extract ACPI tables* from windows? *Mainly DSDT and SSDT Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312172-i6700k-gigabyte-z170x-gaming5-keeps-rebooting/#findComment-2237512 Share on other sites
Ed Ding
I unf. dont have any windows install, all I can offer is a Macbook? If necessary I can install windows of course on my hackintosh, shouldnt be too hard Not familiar with ACPI table extraction, no! Is there maybe a file already configured for this setup? I bought the hardware because it's for example in the buyers guide over at the tonymac site. First of all, delete everything from Clover/Acpi/Origin. Next, restart your computer and when you reach clover's GUI press F4. Finally, upload compressed origin folder from Clover/Acpi. Good luck. Ed Ding
Will do so shortly! Any risk of not being able to get into OSX by doing this? Otherwise I need to postpone till later, but if theres no risk I can do this right now! In theory it should not affect anything. Best of luck. William Parker
If your shutdown causes reboot then enable ErP in BIOS and use the shutdown fix in clover config.plist That solved it for me Z170M-D3H running a 6700K. Go through my thread, you'll find this addressed there among other things you might find helpful. Cheers! However, I'm trying to assist him/her in getting a fully functional hackintosh because he/she still uses NullCPUPowerManagement kext, with the Mac OS installed on the Hard Drive. Best regards. Cyberdevs
in your config.plist under ACPI set the fix shutdown flag with clover configurator or add the following under ACPI: <dict> <key>FixShutdown_0004</key> <true/> </dict> Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312172-i6700k-gigabyte-z170x-gaming5-keeps-rebooting/#findComment-2237702 Share on other sites

I thought we got rid of before the Z97-4thGen days? A Z170 should boot without any kext or DSDT except for FakeSMC. I have a slightly older Motherboard and I'm not fully familiar with the newer ones, but I try to help forum members as per my capabilities, therefore gaining more knowledge for myself. I don't know why he/she uses Null Cpu Power Management, he/she mentioned that the whole clover folder was downloaded from the internet. I was trying to get the DSDT and configure it to work natively with Apple Power Management, I was afraid that by removing the Null Cpu Power Management kext a kernel panic would be caused, so to speak. All in all, @Ed Ding you can try @William Parker's solutions from his thread and I suppose it's safe to remove Null Cpu Power Management kext from clover's kexts. In addition, you can delete all the contents of the origin folder, found in Clover/ACPI. William Parker
@Needy Pardon me my friend, that's quite an avatar you got there, and there you go helping! Very Very Good indeed. Please keep up the good work. I personally find DSDTs quite involving and go quite long. But DSDT-free gets the job done much quicker and maybe better. Especially when Apple and Intel are still writing the shop manual. But no harm experimenting when one knows a wrong setting in Clover is not bringing apocalypse. But in the case of an adamant device by all means pop the bonnet and DSDT your problems to glory. Ed Ding
Ok guys, I tried the Erp BIOS setting + clover shutdown fix in Clover configurator - and lo and behold - it shuts down perfectly now for the 10th time! Thank you for that! Both of you! more info: The whole machine seems to work perfectly now, but I experienced once out of 10 startups, that the screen stayed black although the mouse appeared and was moveable. (Automatic) Disk backups also working. I had to reset power and after that everything booted up nicely. I can live with that. I will also try to remove the Null-Kext! Using darkwake could probably fix your black screen issue. Tip: Once you activate darkwake, check if sleep is working. Best regards.
