Typhoon_Master
Hello Everybody! :-) Since winterholidays are coming nearer and nearer and i got some time in there, i thought it would be a good idea to update/upgrade my Mavericks hackintosh to the newest El Captain. But the only problem is, i don't know exactly how. And since i do not have a very common, or very compatible system for hackintosh it will be a slightly difficult for me, i think. I used myHack (which won't be developed any further i think), to get Mavericks running on my Machine. So i got a quite clean Vanilla System, if i got right what vanilla is.The System runs realy fast and stable with the installed DSDT and some kexts for Ethernet and Sound.CPU: Core2Quad Q6700 Mainbaord: ASUS Maximus II Formula Graphics: nVidia 9800 GTX Ethernet: Marvell Yukon 88E8056 @working with modified IONetworkingFamily.kextSound: AD200B @working with modified AppleHDA.kext and HDAEnabler.kext The Question is now: how do i update, to not destroy my whole system? I also installed chameleon as bootloader, because it comes with myhack. When i read right, i do have to replace it with clover, right? regards typhoon Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/309496-update-from-mavericks/ Share on other sites
bigben1
from mavericks to elcapitan is a big jump, only way not to destroy your system is , remove your mavericks hdd from your system and connect any other hdd to clean install elcapitan to see if it works. If all options fail stick to mavericks and attach your mavericks hdd again.upgrade is not a good option. Prasys
You should able to upgrade , provided you got clover setup , a lot of fixes in DSDT. I have done an upgrade from mavericks to yosemite and yosemite to el capitan Make sure you keep a backup and ensure that you have minimum kexts for 10.11 such as fakesmc , usb generic patch (if needed). Hi, thank you for your answer. I installed Clover on a flash-drive and after some attempts i got it working. So I installed El Captain over Mavericks and this worked also very well. I did not expect that. I got a running System. The only thing is, that i did not get my usb-ports to run (which seems to be a popular topic for el captain). would be cool if someone could help me out here. PS2-Keyboard is working, so im able to run a terminal, and do some things there. // Edit: Okay i found out, this is because of my DSDT. i think i have to read into DSDT patching. have not done this bevore.
