lemmyc
Hi, I have the latest Clover, and the RtVariables set appropriately. The only kext I have in kexts/10.11 is FakeSMC.kext After the installer reboots and I select the Install OS X option, the installation always fails after an error in AppleUSBUHCIPCI. The motherboard is a Gigabyte EX58-UD5. Any suggestions? Thanks. tom5151
Hi, I have exactly the same behaviour on my X79 MB Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308359-panic-in-usb-when-applying-el-cap-update-to-yosemite-clover/#findComment-2173086 Share on other sites
p5k-vm
Hi, i had the exact same problem. I created a USB-installer stick with this tool: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/307003-clover-os-x-el-capitan-usb/ and found out that with this i was able to boot into the update/install drive on my harddisk which was created by the El Capitan Installer. It seems that i'm only able to boot (installer and the finished installation) if there is no "SMBIOS"-section in my clover config.plist. As soon as this section appears in the config.plist my hack crashes with this kernel panic (even if it is only a Trust-key and has no other SMBIOS-values). I first edited the plist with the clover configurator and second with textedit to be sure no SMBIOS-section was present. With this setup i'm finally able to boot and use el capitan. Hope this information helps you with your problem - and if not and you find out the exact reason i'd be happy to hear from you (so i can use my own smbios-values ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308359-panic-in-usb-when-applying-el-cap-update-to-yosemite-clover/#findComment-2173720 Share on other sites
lemmyc
Thanks for that. I will try booting from USB when I get a chance and see if your method works for me. lemmyc
I finally got round to trying this. I created a usb installer. I boot using that and it takes me to the the Clover boot screen. At this point if I try to boot from the usb installer I get the same panic in AppleUSBUHCIPCI.kextSo after trying various clover config options I tried to remove that kext from the USB installer. It was inside IOUSBHostFamily.kext. I removed it. Same problem. I removed its parent kext, same problem. I tried booting without caches, using space bar, and i tried blocking those kexts using Clover boot options - same problem. Where am I going wrong? Also, is it possible to access the install volume created by the El Capitan installer and edit the kexts there? PPCnostalgic
I've installed El Capitan using Enoch and when installation has been done installed Clover over it, everything works now. When I tried Clover couldn't get rid of that USBUHCIPCI kp but Enoch worked for me for installation. I have a mobo similar to yours, GA-X58A-UD7 rev. 1 Bios F9d Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308359-panic-in-usb-when-applying-el-cap-update-to-yosemite-clover/#findComment-2199555 Share on other sites

Mr.Graphic
@lemmyc Use iMac Smbios. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308359-panic-in-usb-when-applying-el-cap-update-to-yosemite-clover/#findComment-2199608 Share on other sites
lemmyc
Mr. Graphic - which version? I tried 13.1 and had the same problem. I'm at an interesting place now. I used Chameleon Enoch to upgrade to El Capitan. Now, if I try to install Clover, I get the error in the installer which I think shows that SIP is enabled - 'this package is not compatible with this version of os x' and installation fails. The only way I can boot now is via my USB Enoch installer, so how can I get into Recovery Mode to disable SIP? Mr.Graphic
Hi! iMac14,2 <key>CsrActiveConfig</key> <string>3</string> Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/308359-panic-in-usb-when-applying-el-cap-update-to-yosemite-clover/#findComment-2199696 Share on other sites
lemmyc
Not getting anywhere with this. I followed these instructions: http://osxarena.com/2015/10/guide-install-el-capitan-on-hackintosh-pc-with-chameleon-bootloader-vanilla-installation-method/ I can boot to El Capitan using my Enoch USB installer. The desktop now consistently crashes after a few minutes. I can run the Enoch USB installer (to make drive bootable) in spite of a warning about 'package not compatible with this version of os x'. But if I reboot to the hard disk, I get the clover bootloader and the same error as before in AppleUSBUHCIPCI. If I try to run the Clover installer from the desktop, I get the 'not compatible' error message and the installation fails. I have the CsrActiveConfig key set to 103 in my chameleon plist and my clover plist. (I think this gives more permissions than 3) Currently have SMBios in Clover set to Imac 14,2 Any ideas what my next step should be? PPCnostalgic
Uhmm.... I have Clover r3320 on my machine (GA-X58A-UD7Mobo) and Mac Pro 5.1 as smbios, my Ram is not ECC type but it works fine even with Apple TymceDriver kext installed and loaded. You probably need a DSDT for your motherboard. Try the attached one. Unzip and put it into your EFI>Clover>ACPI>Patched then reboot an see what happens. BTW did you install Clover Legacy mode? UEFI doesn't work in X58 Mobo, bios only. lemmyc
Thanks for that. I've got your DSDT and switched to SMBIOS MacPro 5.1 I seem to be making some progress. I updated the FakeSMC and NullCPUPowerManagement kexts in my USB Chameleon, and when I boot to the desktop I'm not getting constant crashes any more. I managed to install the most recent Clover without error. Now I think I just need to tweak the config.plist and DSDT to get past this boot error. Unfortunately my CMOS is being reset on every reboot also. EDIT. Working now. Either because I correctly referenced the DSDT from Clover this time, or enabled Fix Firewire. I am not about to change anything now to find out which did it.
