Acer Aspire 7720G - Sleep works only once

Hey,

 

update: I changed my DSDT, but still I have following problem: Sleep works only one time, at the second time my notebook does not wake up correctly.

 

So what happens:

1st: I click sleep (works)

2nd: Notebook sleeps correctly (it seems with no error)

3rd: I push the power button

4th: Notebook wakes up (but USB Stick will not shown anymore)

5th: I click sleep (seems to work)

6th: Notebook sleeps (seems with no error)

7th: I push power button

8th: It seems that notebook wake up, but screen keeps black and it seems it does not react on input

9th: I push power button long time to shutdown my notebook hardly, Clover must start with cancel hibernate (otherwise Yosemite will not startup)

  • No NullCPU kext
  • SSDT will generate by Clover (and config)
  • AppleIntelPowerManagement seems to work

I just saw that the output sleep (bold marked in spoiler) does not output in console on the second sleep...

 

I attached a zip file with my DSDT and my config (for Clover).

 

Please help me with my three problems (sleep only one time, USB stick ejected, on startup Yosemite only cancel hibernate possible), sleep is very important for me...

Hello!

 

I think there is something wrong with the acpi section of your Clover config.plist. There are objections. One the one hand you try to load files from bios, such as DSDT.aml and SSDT.aml files, and on the other hand you are loading your own edited DSDT.aml and generate C- and P States with Clover. I think it should look like this, with or without the fixes.

Add in config.plist a hex number that have relation with LPC_patch, i don't undestand much about DSDT, but you need have AppleLPC loaded

Yes, I think so. HWMonitor shows different frequencies and console outputs:

AppleLPC has got an entry with my id as default:

/edit: I want to mention that sleep works the first time, after wake up my connected USB isn't shown anymore. Second sleep works also well, but wake up does not work! The screen stays black (but it seemed that in background something going on) and input has no affect. If I shutdown my notebook hardly and want to restart it, Clover shows me OS X (hibernated), but if I try to start the system, it restarts while startup. I have to cancel hibernation to can startup Yosemite correctly.

You could try to change the sleep image, that device could not  hibernate.

run this command in Terminal, and show me the result:

pmset -g | grep hibernatemode

Hi @dsTny,

 

The specs of your machine are very similar to mine (Dell XPSm1530: Intel PM 965, Core 2 Duo T9300, nVidia 8600GT). 

 

For working sleep on my machine, I need to set hibernate mode to suspend to RAM ie in OSX terminal type

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0

and in Mavericks, I also need to use a regressed AppleACPIPlatform.kext from ML installed in /S/L/E.  With the native Mavericks AppleACPIPlatform.kext, I get a reboot if invoking sleep a second time from the Apple menu or closing the lid (no problem with the first sleep/wake cycle).

 

The regressed kext works perfectly in 10.9.0 and 10.9.1 but unfortunately does not seem to work in 10.9.2+. 

 

For OSX 10.9.2-10.9.4, I use this procedure (replacing the mach_kernel and kexts in S/L/E with ones from 10.9.1) in order to use the regressed AppleACPIPlatform.kext and restore fully functional sleep.  It is a rather clumsy workaround and I haven't bothered to try in Yosemite...

 

The patched DSDT I use for my machine is a finely tuned one used by many people from immo's Dell XPS DSDT thread and everything else on my machine works perfectly.

 

Hope it provides some clues...

Your problem sounds very similar to my problem. Yesterday I have set hibernatemode 0 but this did not resolve my problem. So all my hope is your patched AppleACPIPlatform kext. I will give your kext a shot but I don't have the hope this will working :( But you don't have this kext for Yosemite, do you?

Is the DSDT patch necessary to solve this problem? My DSDT works fine now (except the sleep ;)).

/edit: I want to say thank you to everybody :) The last post did not help (if you find a working method for Yosemite, it would be great you would PN me :)). So there comes a time to give up :( I don't want to spent more time on finding a working solution. Sleep would be a great, useful and an often used feature for me, but I have no time anymore.

 

So if somebody find a solution in Yosemite, he or she is welcome to post it here :)
