bpeugh
I have this board ordered but I was also considering the Asus P5W DH. I have the Asus eax1600XT silent v3. My concern is that if I did get the bigger board I still would be limited on the overclock because of video card like on this board and was wondering if anyone had thoughts on that. CJMclean
Hi guys i want to know in what online store in USA i can find this motherboard? i already searched this in the most famous stores: newegg, amazon, zipzoomfly, but i had no luck. i only can find this mobo GA-945GM-S2, i searched in the gigabyte site, and they have the same chipset (northbridge, southbridge, audio and lan), the difference is the form factor (microATX) and the expansion slots. so this mobo the alternative will have the same performance and benefits of the GA-945G-S3 ? thanks les enfants. i think G-S3 supports the extreme chips but not the GM-S2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28964-gigabyte-ga-945g-s3-motherboard-thread/page/2/#findComment-213623 Share on other sites
Kelvin KC Chan
As AsRock's www said that AsRock ConRoe945G-DVI can setup Dual monitor output. It is useful for photo and video editing. Detosx
Hi there, I am more or less settled on what I want to buy but have a few questions. Motherboard - Gigabyte 945G-S3 - mainboard - Intel 945G (if I can find a British stockist, a few will order it in especially, hmm) - would the ASUS P5W64 WS Professional be massively better for overclocking the E6300 and is its i975X chipset as compatible as the i945G? Will either board take a quad core processor at a later date? Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 / 1.86 GHz processor - I already have this, though appreciate the E6600 would be better for video work. Memory? - wanted to go for the Patriot that aberracus uses but can’t find it. Any good/rock solid stable alternatives? Graphics card? - I need a working DVI output for OS X. Detosx
Damn, the GA-945G-S3 doesn't seem to be available any which way in the UK, only the GA-945P-S3. The Asrock looks more and more tempting but... who the heck are Asrock?! That said, I notice that Aberracus is using the P version. Hmm. bpeugh
Newegg for the 'P'. Not really sure if there is a difference between the 'P' and the 'G' but will look into it. I ordered a 'P' and will install it tonight. bpeugh
The main difference between the P and the G seems to be the G had onboard video and costs $90 more which then it is better just to buy a video card. Detosx
Hi bpeugh. Having an on board G950 graphics solution is a good deal if you want to keep to a budget. I see that you have version 3 of the Asus eax1600XT silent graphics card. Does it have a working DVI output? (the first version did but later versions apparently had problems or didn't work at all with DVI). David7586
so where has everyone in the US been egtting there GA-945G mobos? Also does this motherboard have any limitations in terms of the igp having any ram usage limitations? i know the asus limits the motehrboard to only 64 mb and i wouldnt mind feeding the intergrated graphics system more ram... bpeugh
You cannot get the 'G' in the US, it is only available outside the US. You can only get the 'P' model inside the US which does not have the onboard video but this is easily remedied with a video card. Audio and LAN patches work. mr_chombee
It seems that, for some reasons, this board is just not available for the entire western european and american market. dunno why. I thought I could get the board through a czech retailer, as they said they accept intl. orders, but they haven't gotten back to me. Anyways, I have now ordered the asrock conroe945g-dvi board, so I'm kinda out of this topic Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28964-gigabyte-ga-945g-s3-motherboard-thread/page/2/#findComment-217256 Share on other sites
yuyudj
Damn, the GA-945G-S3 doesn't seem to be available any which way in the UK, only the GA-945P-S3. ALL OK in GA-945P-S3 except ALC888 6 audio output+SPDIF Out/IN. Only I have 6 Output without Digital SPDIF. I've tried Taruga's latest patches and skippy (this run on 6 Output ok but no digital ones) Some help? sinthyex
I just bought the following: Intel Core 2 Duo e4300 BOX 1,8Ghz FSB800Mhz Cache2Mb Multiplier 9x Gigabyte GA-945G-S3 2x512 DDR667 Dual Channel Spire Rocketeer 400W I flashed the BIOS from F1 to F2, because the CPU wasn't ID'd corectly. Now it is. My problem is: I can't raise the FSB, not even by 1 Mhz. I tried the following: - FSB to 222, RAM multiplier 3.00 = 667Mhz so that's ok Saved it, rebooted, started loading windows xp, and when at desktop it just FROZE. Then rebooted by it self, but didn't start again. Had to reset CMOS. Please, help me with this one. Should i start by updating to f4 or f5 ? the latest bios ?
