I have looked all over this forum & google, but have not found any program or method to change it. Please give me hints how to hack this. I changed the gray apple screen once, but I forget exactly how. It's not a PDF, though. I'm nearly certain of that. Nearly. gwprod12 Posted November 15, 2006 Share Posted November 15, 2006 I was under the impression (and I've looked quite closely at this) that the boot logo was built into BootX (as per the previous suggestion) and into the darwin bootloader (if you look at the code, you can see where it was done), and, I would assume, boot.efi. I'm fairly certain you can alter the darwin bootloader to change the boot screen, but I think that Apple's newest sources are a little difficult to work with.
