Pelle007
Have the same issue. Using Laptop FujitsuSiemens Amilo A3667, internal PS2 Keyboard and Touchpad working perfectly, but there is no USB mouse recognized (common Logitech USB mouse). USB is working, tested with mass storage devices (harddisk, cardreader, Sony PSP). Using the VIA chipset USB (VIA K8T890 + VT3237R). chmielu
Hi !!! There is very simple solution for this problem: You have to find 10.4.3 USB Kext package somwhere in this board, or on a GOATSECTX 10.4.6 DVD and install it. USB will be working after that. Ophiel X
i have the same problem. that's not really a solution though, because we need mouse support to be able to install, don't we? Ophiel X
how do i put a different kext on the iso? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28530-usb-mouse-not-working/#findComment-225624 Share on other sites
littlepr
how do i put a different kext on the iso? You would have to make a PPF out of it oand apply it or use something like UltraISO to open up the image, dump the kext in it's respective location and rebuild the iso. You can bypass this by just burning the iso as it is, install MAC using a PS2 keyboard and mouse. Once you have it running get the kext in question and dump it in the System/Libraries/Extensions folder, repair permissions, and reboot. During the reboot hit the F8 key then type: -v -f -x at the prompt. This will boot up in verbose rebuild your mkext and hopefully once it boots up you will be able to use your usb keyboard and mouse. Ophiel X
frankly...if i had a ps2 mouse i wouldn't be wasting my time here. where on an install DVD are the kexts located? i've been looking all over this DVD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28530-usb-mouse-not-working/#findComment-225642 Share on other sites
ccg
Did you turn on the USB fix in the install? When I did not select the USB fix in the Customize section, my USB mouse and keyboard worked. Ophiel X
at least you can install, if i could install i'd be able to get my usb working. re: ccg since that's an installer option, it doesn't help me one bit. i can't use the installer without a mouse. anyone know how/where to replace kexts on an installation dvd? morwyn
I installed 10.4.8 without a problem, but I have no USB support and I didn't install the USB support, as I heard that didn't work. My PS2 mouse connection doesn't work on my PC (I just tried two different mice). The Welcome vid runs, but I can't select a language, or use the keyboard to get through the setup. I downloaded the USB driver. Is there any way to install it from the command line on boot up? That would solve all my problems.... is it possible? Or, as Ophiel X was wondering, is it possible to somehow add the driver to the DVD? And if so, where is it located? I tried using MacDrive and Transmac to see my OSX partition, but they don't see it for some reason, so I can't do that either... anyone? kemikal-aa
I got thru the install because i used a usb/ps2 adapter on my usb mouse. I have tried installing with out VIA support and that didnt make any difference. So I just want clerification here. 10.4.3 works with VIA SATA and VIA USB???? If so im just going to download that and install from there Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28530-usb-mouse-not-working/#findComment-226494 Share on other sites

OPhiel,My USB mouse and keyboard worked during the install (Remember the install is running on 10.4.4). It stopped working when trying to boot after the install. You might also turning on Legacy USB support in your BIOS. Dougmwpsu
I'm running off the 10.4.7 dvd as well and i had the same issues during installation. after using a ps2 mouse and keyboard i was able to get osx installed, but now i still can't use my usb keyboard and mouse. i know that my usb is working on my VIA chipsets becasue i've been able to get a flash drive to load, for some reason when i plug in my kbs/mouse nothing happens. i read somewhere about using the usbiofamily ktext, but it was an older post from a year ago and shouldn't jas 10.4.7 have all that stuff included anyways? any help in this would be greatly appriciated, Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28530-usb-mouse-not-working/#findComment-229280 Share on other sites
