Upgrading Memory

I am going to upgrade the RAM in my MacBook, and I was hoping for some advice. I can't decide between a 1 GB Kit (2x 512 MB) or one stick of 1 GB RAM, which I will upgrade to 2 GB when I can. What I really want to know is if I just put a 1 GB stick in for now, will my Mac still run well, or does the Dual channel really make that much of a difference in a MacBook? Thanks in advance.

i took one 256 mb out and put a 1 gig in for a month then got another gig later. When i had the 1.256 gig it ran fine except i had to reset my pram every two days. All you have to do is make that month or two with 1.25 gig and then u can get two gig total. Much better than 1 gig only immeadiately.

It should be stable and you shouldn't have to reset anything. However, your Mac will run faster if it has two identical pieces of RAM side by side - ie 2x 1GB sticks or 2x 512MB sticks.

My recommendation, fwiw, is to go with 2x 1GB sticks - 2 gig is really what a poweruser needs, in my opinion.
