papa_6
Let's gather all possible solutions here for the Asus EAX1600 silent with ID 0x71c0. I've tried the following: - Borisbadenov (kexts 10.4.4, 10.4.6, 10.4.7) - Neo installer v. 3.2 - Sapphire bios flash None of theese has solved the problem. Either the screen is black with mouse visible or sometimes the screen is glitched. Please share your results and tips to us that hasn't got CI and QE working. baysie
I'm not sure what you guys are trying to do, but that card with that chipset works fine... In-fact it works great....I found that if use a VGA cable to install x86, then update 10.4.6 to 10.4.7, then do the boris trick with that *.kext Then unplug VGA cable and plugin DVI cable 1650x1080x32@60hz if you try to use dvi port for install x86, when it come to mod the kexts IT FAILS. This is where you could be going wrong....... After I got the drivers working, I started to installed my software........ I have been using this config for a month now,,,,,, very stable no crashing here (Bill take note) ha Video_Card.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26415-asus-eax1600-silent-0x71c0/#findComment-180026 Share on other sites
papa_6
The card with id 0x71c0 is very hard to get to work when the card with id 0x71c2 seems to work much better! If you have the c0 version and has it working, please tell what versions and upload the kexts and what else you have changed! The bios would be good to get too! Do a "atiflash" search on this forum to learn how to save it. I've tried almost every trick but always the same black screen or horisontal lines! ruku
i got mine working with the goatsecx 10.4.6 install disc only editing the atindrv and one other kext file like in the boris method. the installer never worked for me. close but no cigar. my trouble is that i have just installed a fresh copy of 10.4.8 test disc from piratebay and i got qc ci (or whatever those letters are) but no res change. and the new kexts are not as simple to edit as the goatsecx so far. i shall perservere though! papa_6
I have now tried to install this "natit" kext, but it didn't help. How should this natit be installed, should I edit some other files too? I'm considering switching to Vista soon if I don't get the EAX1600 to work...I love osx, but it's too slow with my hackintosh gma900... I'm considering switching to Vista soon if I don't get the EAX1600 to work...I love osx, but it's too slow with my hackintosh gma900... There are 2 versions of this card... Everyone who says it is working no problem has this version: http://www.theinquirer.net/images/articles/as16002.jpg Notice how DVI port is at bottom (side closer to motherboard), and VGA on top. The card that nobody's been able to get to work yet is the one pictured in first post of this thread, and it has VGA on bottom, DVI on top. For those of us who have the good version, it works simply by having completely unmodified 10.4.8 original Apple drivers plus Natit.kext. I would eBay the card if I were you and get something that works out of the box. BTW, my card is the "good" version, and it is also 71c0. papa_6
How shure are you about this? Hasn't anyone got the card on the picture on my first post to work in osx? A friend told me today that I should try change the aperture setting in bios from 256 to 128. Haven't had time to try it yet... And does it matter if I have added my 71c0 id to all three ATIxxx kexts when using NATIT? There has been mention of this card in other threads, I think in the monster original borisbadenov thread, if you can find it. One way to search this site (because built-in search sucks), is with google by adding site:forum.insanelymac.com to your query. If you are using Natit, there should be no need to modify kexts at all if you are using 71c0 card. Try using original apple ATI kexts - at least in 10.4.8, my machine is working with all original, unmodified files from 10.4.8 cumulative update, except for mach_kernel, AppleSMBIOS.kext and AppleHDA.kext, plus Natit.kext and ALCInject.kext (for sound). Everything else completely stock, including video drivers and OpenGL.
