unstatusthequo
I'm waiting for the Merom MacBook Pro to be released. As I understand, this will be before Leopard is released. In this circumstance, I'll have OSX 10.4.X on my machine. Will Leopard be a free upgrade just like other regular updates are, or should I be prepared to shell out $$$ on that when it arrives? Might seem like a strange question, but I've never owned a Mac before. Thanks in advance. Upgraden is quite easy thou, since Leopard can be installed on a excisting Tiger installation without loss of data. trunkster
When I bought my first PowerPC Mac Mini, Tiger was just about to be released within the same month. They had a deal where you pay $5 and they'll send you a upgrade copy for Tiger. I would imagine they would do the same thing also for Leopard. projectle
That is of course unless you stop by a University Bookstore where it costs $59.95 USD (I got my copy withouth showing a student ID, perhaps you can do the same. Sure, since then I had bought a new powerbook, and CoreDuo Mac Mini and an G5 iMac, but it was still a heart warming experience to know that Apple cares enough about the Students to make OS X avaliable for a really low price to make it impractical to torrent it. Now, if they would only realize that public, fully functional betas released every other week would stop people from whining and crying and pirating then we would be in a world that would make me cream myself on a daily basis. lunchandamovie
I'm really impatient with leopard. I want a bonafide mac now! I'm saving up to get a MacBook (which I've been debating the color for months and months ) but with Leopard pre-installed. I like the $5 thing trunkster was talking about.
