It's okay now. My partition got corrupted during the install and it messed with the boot.

My screen is lacerated by glitches and artifacts. It might be because i don't have AICPUPM patched...

Clover EFI r531 has "MSR 0xE2"-patch, BIOS-patch or AICPUPM.kext-patch no longer needed.

Having issues with the ML GM install... Dp4 worked so well...

Oh well keep trying later. In the meantime I know this was tried before but gfxcardstatus http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus has been updated for the new mbp and ml... Might this help with Optimus or are they still using a dedicated chip to switch?

@04152viki Great, that actually works well. I assume i can adapt the kext to get the lock trackpad function to work as well. Any other "hidden" info you care to share from the Russian forum?

Clover is actually great, i believe it has the potential to over clock CPU's despite locked bioses.

@darren cox... not optimus. They still rely on the gmux chip for the switch.. although i'm sure it has the optimus chip as well (kext behaviour leads me to think that). Anyway, so far the new MBP did absolutely nothing for us.

Wow! How much did you need to overclock to achieve this?

So you got your ML install fully working now?

@Zulakis, not yet, still installing the necessary stuff.

I don't know how much... the clock speed peaks at being 3.4ghz. It could just as well be a simple visual bug caused by how EFI Clover works... i'm not sure.

Hey guys,

I'm trying to install Lion (with iAtkos L2) on my XPS 15 L502X and I have been more or less successful so far ^^

I used rBoot to boot iAtkos and installed Lion just fine. First I couldnt get past the Setup screen but I resolved that by creating my user manually.

Then I installed some kexts with DoiX's Lx02X v1.1 package. But now when I try to reboot, a get the following panic:

@LightFighter, i think you're missing AppleACPIPlatform.kext. Probably the installer failed, it deleted the old one but didn't get to install the new/patched one...

I see. And how can I add/replace it? because OSX wont boot because of the panic :/

MacDrive on windows is the easiest method. Simply drag the AppleACPIPlatform.kext into /System/Library/Extensions folder. Btw, what battery kext did you select when you used the package installer? I need to know so i can upload the proper kext.

I dont have any other OS installed on my laptop :/ just the broken OS X... and I dont remember which Battery kext i used either. and the screenshot of my configuration is the OS X desktop as well... I think Im gonna try the safety mode...

EDIT: Nope, that didnt work either. Im just gonna run a Ubuntu Live CD...

You could boot the installer and access the terminal.

cp -R /Volumes/NameOfStick/<Name of kext>.kext /Volumes/name of OS Partition/System/Library/Extensions/

If the name contains spaces you must write it like this

/Volumes/Name\ of\ OS/

AppleACPIPlatform.kext http://dl.dropbox.co...atform.kext.zip

@Ahmed, as i stated in the previous replies. Its because AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext is not patched. As soon as you patch it the artifacts disappear or scale down in numbers. I used Clover EFI because it auto patches it, i'm not aware of the old method being updated yet for GM.

That reminds me:

UseKernelCache=No is mandatory in my case to boot. Sound is not working, the old kexts are bad and i haven't managed to patch the new one yet. Everything else is the same as far as i can tell.

@Zulakis, i checked your ioreg... the same problem as on Lion. Basically your panel isn't compatible.... have you tried to plugin an external screen to see how the internal panel behaves?

Have mountain lion installed now 100% working as with DP4 speedstep, sleep, audio, wifi, bluetooth etc all perfect.

Using chimera bootloader, might switch to clover in time to save patching AICPUPM every time!

No artifacts here
