@MasterofComputers: Bummer, I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope you can work things out. Perhaps you should do some reputation control, to avoid this in the future? (not trying to be a {censored} or be condescending here) I take a great interest in hardware, operating systems and software: however, if anyone is going to say something bad about me, it's not 'oh he's a nerd/geek'. Why? Because I don't talk about computers unless someone brings up the subject. Sure, if I know someone who is into them, I'll talk to them; but other than that I avoid the subject. Also, maybe be selective about who you associate yourself with. I'm not going to lie, a lot of the kids at my school who talk about computers and are into that stuff are losers. Losers, plain and simple (noobs as well btw). In fact, out of all of my friends only two are interested in computers/hardware. Now, even though I avoid the subject of computers I have a reputation of being 'good' with them. If you're into computers, this is going to happen: it is inevitable. I've managed to make it into something not nerdy though, and until todays 1.1.3 update ruined everything, I was jailbreaking peoples iPod Touches. Of course I'm going to want to talk to other computer enthusiast, so I come to forums like Insanelymac. Now I have a contact list of people from here and other sites, and I can do all the talking I want. MoC, I'm not saying that you're a loser or anything like that. But you said that you have a reputation as a nerd, so theres how I avoid that.

So, I'll see if I can work it out with her. And, I do not feel offended, even though it kinda sounds like me....

Th majority of my friends aren't really computer "nerds" like me. They know I'm good with them, but that's about it.

Exactly.

And, I do not feel offended, even though it kinda sounds like me....

You are like someone who is not known as a computer nerd or who is?

I'm the same way erei. I make very small mention of my nerdiness. I don't hang out with computer nerds or anything. People around my school know me as a badass that stands his ground, doesn't take {censored} and is a musician. I'm not in the school band though. It's all about presentation. Half the people there you'll never get to talk to, but present yourself the way you want to be seen and everyone will think differently. Now am I actually a badass that doesn't take any {censored}? Hell yea. That's cause I'm ballsy to speak my opinion no matter what. Only my close friends know I'm a geek. And that's cause I helped them fix their computers plenty of times and taught them where to download and all that {censored}. In middle school and the first two years of high school especially, don't show yourself completely, but at the same time don't hide yourself. If that makes any sense. Once you hit junior year, show em alittle more. Senior year, do whatever you want. It's your last year, what do you care? You're not going to deal with this people again til the reunion. (By the way, never go to the 5 year reunion. You'll look like a loser.) Just some helpful advice for you young folk.
