Can you upgrade G5 PowerMacs?

ok just wondering can you upgrade the procesor on a G5 PowerMac? like if i bout a 1.6Ghz can i upgrade that to like a 2Ghz? or can i upgrade like a single 1.8 to dual? and also what else can i upgrade on a powermac?

You can upgrade them. The problem is that no processor upgrades exist for the G5. There are numerous ones for the G4 towers, though.

 

As for other upgrades:

 

1. Yes you can put in a new graphics card

 

2. Yes, you can use a PCI-X/E card (depends on your make/model of G5)

 

3. Yes you can add more RAM

 

4. Yes you can add more hard drives

 

5. Yes you can case mod it to accept four SATA drives instead of the standard two

 

6. Yes, you can case mod it so pretty lights shine through

 

7. Yes, you can upgrade the SuperDrive.

Yeah, I've never tried it but I wouldn't recommend it. Probably cheaper and easier to sell your current one and eBay and then turn right around and buy another one with a better proc. setup.
