Swad
My dad has given me 800 bucks to buy him a Mac on eBay. He's going to use it mostly for video editing. Which has more horsepower - a Dual G4 or a Single G5 (assuming the RAM is the same)? Thanks!
rick taylor
This comparison might help, I came across it looking g4 processor upgrades. http://www.barefeats.com/g4up.html Apparently the single processor g5 out performs the mp g4 in Imovie rendering. You might want to consider buying an older g4 and sticking one of these upgrade cards in, I recently installed one for my wife's sawtooth g4 and now it is a bit of a beast. A Nonny Moose
Clock for clock, two G4 processors will most likely be faster than a single G5. As always, note the word "most likely." There are other factors such as faster RAM speed on the G5. This link might also help, as it shows some single processor G4's and single G5's Speedmark scores. Swad
I opted for the G5 - got it for $686 with 160 gig HD and 700 MB RAM. Here's another great comparison I found for those interested. http://macspeedzone.com/html/hardware/mach...mac/index.shtml
