Julian0o
Hi at all, i need a card for my new Hackintosh. It will get a Gigybate GA-x58-UD3R wich an i7-950 on it. And 3x4GB 1333Mhz Ram. The Hackintosh will be for Videoediting on Final cut and Photoshop. So i dont really need a good videocard. Here is what the card should have. Cheap Silent (Passive if possible) DisplayPort and easy to install if possible What about the ATI 5670? http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a538322.html I didnt find a guide to install. Thanks! PGHammer
So far, it's looking like (at minimum) an HD5670 (if DisplayPort is a must). This is the lowest-price product I've seen (in the US) that fits the bill: http://www.hisdigital.com/us/product2-531.shtml I'm considering it because of the low price (I don't need DP capability; however, I don't even have resolution detection, let alone QE/CI, with my HD5450. The HD5670 takes care of all that, without requiring additional power.). Tthe only minus is that it eats two slots. Malloot
Thanks! The 5750 is a good choice! Is there a tutorial for installation? I cant find anything! http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=231768 its not a tutor as its a testing topic but thats what he is using. i would watch out with ati cards as the install can be very hard. (although i have a 4770 that makes my experience rather biased) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/235922-wich-card/#findComment-1588012 Share on other sites
aleister Crowley
Thanks! The 5750 is a good choice! Is there a tutorial for installation? I cant find anything! I use the 5750 with GraphicsEnabler=Yes, 64Bit on 10.6.5 Simply use Kabyls Bootloader. Also youve to add the DeviceID to AtiRadeonX300.kext. Works perfect Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/235922-wich-card/#findComment-1588322 Share on other sites

Also youve to add the DeviceID to AtiRadeonX300.kext. Works perfect Hi Aleister, I'm thinking of getting a PowerColor Go! Green HD5750 but there seems to be only 2 places in the UK that sell them and their websites are hellishly slow. Where did you get yours from? The other option is the Gigabyte Silentcell 5750 http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-p...spx?pid=3402#ov But it has a non standard output config of 1x D-Sub 1x DVI-I and 1x DVI-D and HDMI. I need support for 3 displays. The Gigabytes are easy to get in the UK but I don't want to get something that causes problems. starobrno1
I have the Sapphire hd 5750 it has a fan but it´s pretty silent. Not sure bout the displayport have nothing to test it with. Also been reading you need an active device/converter or was it monitor not sure. I run SL 10.6.5 32 bit haven´t tested 64 bit but I doubt it works just like that, I´m pretty sure one would need to fix something to get it working. It´s a good card though. Same with this card edit device id/change from capital letter in the ATI5000controller.kext plist - like this 0x68be1002. Also I have like I said 10.6.5 and the ATISupport.kext which might make a difference and graphicsenabler. Works perfect Can u expand a little more on what u did? 1.Did u have to use the Bios of your GPU in Extra? 2.Which Chameleon package did u use? 3.Did u add the DeviceID to any other kext or have to remove any kext? 4.Was this done on a fresh Vanilla Install/Distro/Update?
