Takuro
And with inexpensive add-ons like Call In and Call Out, you can talk to any telephone–mobile or landline–on the planet. Any phone? Yes. Therefore, it's not free It's not really a Skype killer. PC to PC voice chat has always been free. I call it "voice chat" because, well.. that's what it is. I wouldn't call it a "phone call." This app doesn't do anything special. You can have your voice chat conference routed to a physical home phone or cell phone, but that costs money. Did you misread something on their site? gwprod12
Calling landlines and mobile phones: With Call Out, you can call any landline or mobile phone with super cheap Call Out Credits. Super cheap? How does 1.0 cents a minute sound? Enter any number into Gizmo Project and dial away. It rings like a normal phone, sounds like a normal phone, it only costs less. You only pay for the call you make. There are no monthly fees, no connection fees, and all billing is per minute. Simple, inexpensive, great quality. rick taylor
How much is it again? Just kidding, sounds like a good deal. I would never switch to something like this completely, how do you call your ISP when your connection craps out? numberonekiwi
I have been looking into similar setups and have just signed up with 2 the first one does infact offer free land line call to several countries around the world but usually have a time limit per call I think they are based in Germany but I have made a 20 minute call to N.Z with no cut out (I am based in N.Z myself) and the delay was less than 1/2 sec reasonably good service that uses the SIP protocol the second one does cost to use and is U.K based and can offer you a local Geographical number (some only offer this if you reside in the U.K) they charge 1.1 p/min to serveral countries and only £1.99 month for a real phone number like 0207xxxxxxx call quality is great but still a delay which is actually the latency between me and the server (ISP) It also uses the SIP protocol I am signed up with both and usually use the first for out going calls and the second for friends to call me on from the UK The advantage with these two providers is that you can either use a standard VOIP handset or get a SIP ATA Telephone adaptor which you simply plug one end into your Router ethernet connection and the other into a normal telephone. Disadvantages -Usually No 911, 999, 112 -ISP failers cause loss of service -Power failers Advantages -very cheap / free calls from a normal phone -can be moved to any wan/lan port that connects to the internet world wide -can have serveral local phone numbers world wide ( call charges may apply ) -save money to spend on your hackintosh option one www.voipcheap.com option two www.voipfone.co.uk Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23295-gizmo-project-free-pc-phone-calls/#findComment-155402 Share on other sites
