As the Topic Tittle said, iAtkos s3 v2 all normally installed without any problem on ASUS M4A89GTD PRO motherboard with NB890/SB850.

All i use are standard settings offered by iAtkos distro (quoopz 10.3 kernel, aka EFI 10.6, nV Enabler+String, AHCI SATA kext, VoodooHDA, OHR, Realtek 8111 LAN... etc). Only modification i made are under VoodooHDA (installed latest from MultyBeast and Raeltek1000sl.kext swapped from SL with Leopard Realtek1000.kext from Leopard 10.5.8). Practically everything work out of the box  ). Fully updated except 10.6.4 combo till i backup important datas as: boot file, com.apple.Boot.plist, Extra folder, kernel...

Set in BIOS:

IDE Drives Type to OFF

Flopy to OFF

AMD C&Q to OFF

APIC mode to Enabled

Onboard IDE Controller to Enabled

OnChip S-ATA Controller to Enabled

SATA Mode to SATA Mode or to AHCI if You have it

...

If you be so lucky to start up installation, your Audio will be unusable...

GOOD LUCK!

ok i did what you said. but there was no ide drives type in my bios settings so i diabled the ide busmaster but i had no luck the harddrives were not recognized.

do you have any idea ?

when i use S-ATA mode then i can start booting DVD but then i stops loading from DVD so i guess the efi cant handle the S-ATA Mode. The AHCI Mode works but on AHCI Mode IDE Drives dont work.

Hello Zorz,

First of all, thanks for the post as I am thrilled to hear that you have been able to install the iAtkos Distro on the M4A89GTD motherboard. I have downloaded about 4 Distros already (Sow_Leopard, iDeneb, Kalway etc) but could not get to boot properly even by following various installation guides..The problem was that I could not even get to the GUI screen to start the installation [:(].

I have now found that the iAtkos distro works. I am downloading the iAtkos 10.5.7 at the moment as I am writing this reply. I would request you to provide me with an installation guide which can help me in choosing the right BIOS Settings for the Board to start with. Also, I am clear now about the Kernel that I have to choose. Is there any other installs or settings that I need to choose the "Customize" screen before the installation commences?

Also, please let me know the boot options that you applied when booting the iAtkos DVD to install. I believe I should be using -v cpus=1 maxmem=2048 busratio=20 (please let me know your thoughts on this)

Between, I have managed to install all the MAC distros one by one on Oracle Virtual Box and I am quite happy with it. Will be more happy if I can get this to install on the system instead of running it as Virtual machine.

Below are my system specs for your review:

Processor: AMD Phenon II X6 1090T @ 3.2Ghz (never overclocked the proc)

Motherboard: ASUS M4A89GTD Pro USB 3.0

RAM: Corsair DDR3, 1033 MHz

Graphic Card: XFX ATI Radeon 5770 1GB

Hard drives: 2 SATA drives of 1TB and 500 GB

I will be awaiting your reply and thanks again!

My distro is iAtkos Snow Leopard 10.6.3 version.

Update latest BIOS version.

In Your BIOS You must set:

SATA/IDE to AHCI

switch OFF additional IDE

switch OFF FireWire

tourn ON ACPI and APIC

turn ON HPET (on 64 if possible)

switch OFF SpreadSpectrum...

Boot iAtkos SL without any kernel flags and cross fingers for booting.

Kernel flags are for Intel CPUs.

If booting goes choose qooupz 10.3.0 kernel with 10.6.3 update and all another is Your wish (according to your system)...

good luck!

Exact same Board i have! im running a AMD X6 though

can you email me your settings and install files? Im kinda a newbie lol

I used the same settings as Zorz posted at the top. For these boards, I know mine needs the Appleazalia kext for audio. If it's like hazard's install, you may have to remove the VoodooHDA first if it is installed. I will let you know everything I had to do post install.
