Ed
As was widely expected, Steve Jobs used the keynote speech at the WWDC to announce the hotly anticipated iPhone 4 and its newly renamed Operating System, iOS 4. Launching on June the 24th in the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan from just $199, the new iPhone features the following: Stainless steel and glass construction. 25% thinner case - just 9.3 mm thin, allegedly the thinnest smartphone to date. Apple A4 processor (as used in the iPad). Ultra-high resolution screen dubbed the "Retina Display", with a quadrupled resolution of 960x640, equivalent to 326ppi. Increased battery life, now at 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours of video, and 40 hours of music. Front-facing camera with new FaceTime feature for videophone conversations (only available over Wi-Fi). Rear-facing camera is now 5 megapixels with an LED flash. Video can now record in HD, 720p @ 30fps. Wi-Fi now at 802.11n. Available in black or white. Available in 16GB or 32GB capacities. The iPhone 4 will of course ship with the iPhone OS 4, which has now simply been renamed to just "iOS 4", which features multi-tasking, folders, and iAds. MilanMac
Apple did a wonderful job on the iPhone 4. Looks like a real winner. Too bad it's still connected to at&t....
Alessandro17
As was widely expected, Steve Jobs used the keynote speech at the WWDC to announce the hotly anticipated iPhone 4 and its newly renamed Operating System, iOS 4. Launching on June the 24th in the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan from just $199... Price sounds like the most interesting "feature" Considerably cheaper than the Nokia n97 mini. Maybe Steve Jobs is beginning to realize that they must compete on price as well?
Poco
Links are now up including the iTunes 9.2 beta. Only the Mac version is available right now. Shame about not supporting the older generations, but it was going to happen at one point. Maybe time for an upgrade .
Laszlo Lebrun
Unbelievable! Apple sets new standards! - High resolution display. - 5 Mpixel Camera - 2nd camera in the front - Multitasking (believe it or not!) - Videoconferencing And the Pavlov-conditionned Apple nerds will be spending another camping night in the front of their Church-of-the-Steve-Word to be the very first ones to be blessed with these unique features. May be I should join them, since my old HTC isn't yet completely free from displaying Flash, which could infect me with pornos? ... Just stupid that my good two-years-old HTC Blackstone has got all others of that nice features on board, without shouting out to be THE technological revolution of the millenium. downlord
And the Pavlov-conditionned Apple nerds will be spending another camping night in the front of their Church-of-the-Steve-Word to be the very first ones LOL. The question is still the same, from the invention of the wheel. Do we need it really? Or is it just a way of satisfying our uncontrollable desire of new toys to play with? Apple made an empire out of it, giving mediocre hardware a new shiny box.
spaas
Just a few more days until its release. It sure as hell seemed like a long wait for multitasking, of course they wanted to add it as a so called feature for the iPhone 4. Ugh. Hurry up already!
