tripleboot Posted July 7, 2006 Share Posted July 7, 2006 I'm running 10.4.5 and wondered if people notice in a dual boot environment when switching back from their OSx86 10.4. whatever to XP they noticie their clock gets out of whack by several hours. no biggie, but thought it was a little weird. I know for sure that the Linux installs use a different method for obtaining the time. Rammjet Posted July 28, 2006 Share Posted July 28, 2006 It has to do with the different ways MacOSX and Windows store the time in BIOS. Windows stores the local time. MacOSX stores UTC (Greenwich) and then corrects it to local time for display. I posted a link above to two different methods for helping the problem - one is a batch file to run in Windows that will use the BIOS time and correct to local time. The other (which is not recommended) that changes a registry entry.
