Guides such as: http://prasys.co.cc/2009/08/installing-sno...pard-for-osx86/ & http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=182227 Presume you already have OSX.

However is (and I'm taking a guess here) a retail copy of OSX DVD able to boot into the stage of the disc utility for you to make a bootable USB stick?

Thanks.

Which version do I need?

Download Empire EFI v.1085 for Intel P55 Chipset and Intel Core i5 and i7 8xx series , Intel Core 2 series , Intel Core series (Contains both EmpireEFI v1.085 and LegacyEmpireEFI v1.085)

or

Download Empire EFI v1.085 for Intel Atom , Intel Core i7 9xx series , Intel Core 2 series , Intel Core series (contains both Empire EFI v1.085 and LegacyEmpireEFI v1.085)

for my Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300?

edit; ignore me, it has to be "Download Empire EFI v1.085 for Intel Atom , Intel Core i7 9xx series , Intel Core 2 series , Intel Core series (contains both Empire EFI v1.085 and LegacyEmpireEFI v1.085)"

i used a little bit from everywhere - my original boot image was from - hell - i really dont know - but i changed almost everything in it - i made all steps before the setup on my windows machine - but it worked

the empire efi (i think it was the empire one) - the one with the stupid vader picture - i hated it - tried it on my hp g6060eg and yeah - the white background made me almost vom.. - lough - white text and a white background - ;)

anyway - i only modify my boot image on all my computers - so i can blame myself if anything goes wrong ;)

If you don't have Leopard installed first, how do you get a DSDT file? If you don't have a DSDT file, Snow Leopard will clear your BIOS settings before it even boots.

Do you mean that you can't install snowy without leopard, but I saw a guide in youtube first installing 7 and then snow leopard http://www.youtube.com/user/osx86tutorials#p/u/4/ZRHbmsVZ3ww

Most people here are working with a motherboard that others have worked with before.

So long as the DSDT does not contain custom CPU data, DSDT files can be shared between owners of the same motherboard running the same BIOS revision without issue.
