Valoo Posted June 23, 2006 Share Posted June 23, 2006 Hi, I would like to try the Windows Vista Beta 2 but I don't want to delete my 200 MB EFI partition on my intel iMac 17". Do you know if I can install Vista on my FAT32/NTFS formatted iPod? That would prevent me from reinstalling the EFI partition (seems hard) if I want to get rid of Vista . LasVegas Posted June 28, 2006 Share Posted June 28, 2006 The problem is that you would need to format your iPod into NTFS which would not be compatible with the Mac end anymore. You would have to effectively split the ipod into two partitions and restore your Mac or FAT32 format back into the first partition and then format the second partition as NTFS. That's the one that would get the Vista install. If I had a large enough iPod (you need at the very least 11GB for Vista) to experiment with and didn't mind trashing, I'd try it. AirmanPika Posted July 6, 2006 Share Posted July 6, 2006 Yea Vista doesn't like running on external drives any more than XP. OSX on the otherhand can afaik (I did it once). It is slow though. Also unless MS has made more changes you CAN run Vista on FAT32 but its complicated. See my thread on running Vista on FAT32.
