Hey all, I am somewhat new to this but consider myself generally apt with computers. My goal is to get my laptop (acer) dual booting and I think I'm doing pretty well so far to that end except that all attempts to get the install file for OS X86 have failed. I have all the utilities I need and I'm ready to go...but my ISO is stuck at 59.9% and has been for about 12 hours. I was also wondering if anyone could tell me where I could get the version "Mac os X x86 By Castaña Team V 0.7" because right now I'm working towards "Mac.OS.X.Tiger.10.4.6.X86-HOTiSO" and it would be nice to not have to finish my 6gig iLife DL. Please don't tell me to just go to demonoid or another newsgroup or anything unless you can give me an invite. I've searched the ends of the internet that I'm familiar with pretty extensively, lots of dead links and nothing too helpful. I can receive emails from users, so no need to post a direct link...

Please?

Thanks

Dan

Here's a perfect place to get Mac OS X v. 10.4.6!!!

http://www.apple.com/macosx

Don't steal Apple's software! It ruins your karma and besides, if you steal and the next person steals, then when do you think Apple will EVER release OS X on a generic PC? If you need it REALLY FAST, then just head on down to a local Apple Store. You'll be blown away by all the amazing things the mac can do.

Mac OS X: $129.00

Getting fined for software piracy: $250,000.00

Buying a legal copy of Mac OS X so you can sleep easy at night: priceless.

yet by looking at your sig.... you kinda contradict yourself :)

Thanks guys, lots of help! Cupertino, congrats on being a mac developer and thus the only person here not doing something illegal. You were so right that I just went and shelled out $2g for a new computer because I had it just sitting around and I wasn't going to do anything else with it. Boy is this mac ever great. Just like linux, but with software that isn't compatible with anything else. When will they release a copy for generic PCs? I don't know, but my piracy (yeah, it's not stealing it's piracy) will most likely have little effect on their decision. They might start; if they do it's to get money from all of us who want the OS. They might never; if they don't it's in hopes that people like you will want their apps so bad you'll shell out the extra cash for their computers. They will do whatever they think will make them the most money and that's that. Say what you want, it's good stuff, but they will never try to compete with anyone else for cost. They want rich customers.
