Hey there,

Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue? Every now and again when I wake the machine from sleep, I just get a screen full of static, like a blank tv channel....

If I pull out the DVI lead and plug it back in, it seems to work fine again, but would be awesome to kill it off completely.

Any ideas?

i get the same, i have an asus monitor, but its not from sleep, it happens just after leaving my monitor off for a while and coming back to it, VERY randomly, most times it doesnt happen, but once in a while it does, changing inputs typically resolves it

I have random bits of static on the screen every once in a while. I can't really tell unless there is a black picture, then you can see the spots of erratic static. I went so far as to take my video card back to the store thinking that it was my video card overheat (it was a pny factory over-clocked 9600gso). One of the guys at the store said that he thought that it might be dust in the pci slot. He might be right, even with my new card i get the static, however it is less with this 9800gt non over-clocked. I still get full static sometimes when i turn the monitor on, usually turning the monitor off and on fixes something. I have a Hannspree monitor.

anyone have a dual boot with windows? that way we can rule out dust in the pci.

I had the same problem with my nVidia GeForce 9600 GT using an EFI string under Leopard. I started using NVEnabler.kext instead and I haven't had the problem since. My Snow Leopard install is on my test drive, so I haven't used it that much, but I haven't had the problem there either. You may also check the Graphics Enabler option in Chameleon or PC EFI.

Ryan!

I got it on my MacBook UNI and a HPw2216 screen!

I then switched from a VGA connector to DVI and can't remember when last, if ever, I had this problem again! Also if this happened I still have my MacBook screen perfectly fine, so I would then open System Preferences/Displays and it would immediately Resync and fix itself! Once I had to click on the Detect Displays button before it worked, but that was once only!

I am also experiencing this problem with a gainward gts 250, and its very annoying!

I have tried multiple Nvcap values in gfx strings (even dumped my rom and made a nvcap)

And have also tried Nvenabler, but it still does it!!!

I think it has something to do with how many inputs my card has (dvi/vga/hdmi)

And also tried a 9800gt with the same inputs and it still occurred :)

I use the dvi input (but I don't think it the main plug, as windows makes it display #2 with dual monitors...)

Any of you guys come up with a solution?

Is it anything to do with chameleon boot-loader??

yeah i have the same issue, with my 9800gt. good to know that i can just try to change the input. I do use the same setup for my windows and I don't have any issues

I don't know if this will make any difference, I've never tried it myself.

Go to the power management settings in the BIOS and enable something along the lines of "VGA post on S3 resume".

Let me know if it works.

Yer I had a look at that, but I think thats for waking up from computer sleep mode (I can do with no problems).

Not display sleep/wake up...

A quick remedy to make the display wakeup, set one of the hot corners to " Put display to sleep"

So if it happens. Sleep the display and wake it again (move mouse)...

Or just turn off/on your display (from the power button)
