Too bad... i have the same id 71c0 on my card... i've managed to make it work in leopard but from the posts i'm thinking that it will not run on snow... maybe it's time for upgrades :D

... and i get kernel panic :)

Tried method above on 10.6.2 SL, sadly didn't worked for me ;)

I got ati mobility x1600 71c5 id. and I'm stuck at 1024x768 and no acceleration. That sucks badly. Especially that my card worked with Leopard 10.5 :P

Any ideas? Would love to see it working again!

Cheers

You have to use the old drivers and delete the ati1600controller.kext and atiframebuffer.kext then add the atiinject and atindrv.kext and use the following commands

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions

sudo kextcache -v 1 -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions

Established strictly under the instruction x1600 mobility (71c5), acceleration though about it it is not told in the information on system as a result works. But there is one big problem - the screen resolution 1024х768, at the worker 1280х800. Whether probably the decision of the given problem?

thanks.I did all of that which you wrote method.but when I Output DVI to my monitor ,my monitor it doesn't work ,what are kexts or statement to drive DVI output ?

sorry for my English...

DVI output not working, just VGA output.

remember to get x1600 driver work you must run in 32bit. no 64bit for x1600

How to run 32bit? read here

and in kernel flags section changes like this :

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>arch=i386</string>

Well,

I've updated from iAtkos S3 V2 with 10.6.3 to 10.6.4 and then to 10.6.6

No problems at least.

I also tried a lot of workarounds to get higher resolutions for my x1600 (0x71c2), but there's only 3rr0rists x1600 package working and it's only working in 10.6.5 (not in earlier versions of the OS) and in 32bit.

Everything is workin fine except the fact that I'm facing a KP if I don't boot -f.

Only with -f it will boot into the Finder.

How can this be? Is there anything I can check or I have missed?

Please see the attached screenshot for the KP:

Any help is appreciated...
