CruiSAr
Thanks for the guides, write-ups, previous knowledge and such. I got my hackintosh going this evening and things went smooth. I used Digital_Dreamer's script and CruiSAr's short SL install guide, his sig has it as Guide with only FakeSMC in Extra, to prep Digital_Dreamer's script. I didn't have sound, so used HDAEnabler.kext and LegacyHDA.kext and that fixed it. I didn't have SleepEnabler installed, I do now after I updated to 10.6.2. I still have to see if sleep and wake work. So far everything is stable, but I haven't put a load on it yet. I have two guides, the first which can be found HERE uses a whole bunch of kexts (DD's default script setup including sleepEnabler) The second one which can be found HERE has only fakeSMC in extra and does not require sleepEnabler. This is possible due to DSDT editing. You can find the guide HERE Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185097-guide-scripted-yosemitemavericks-install-on-gigabyte-mobos/page/87/#findComment-1424205 Share on other sites
L3B3R
Does anyone else's mouse jump sometimes. I have tried multiple plugs and multiple mice but each of them has the same issue; occasionally it will jump a bit like it is lagging. My main mouse is a Razer DeathAdder Mac edition. I am thinking it is a USB issue. BjarneHR
Thanks for the guide! Just installed successfully Snow Leopard 10.6 to my system: Asrock X58 Deluxe, i7 920, Nvidia GTX 260, SATA DVD-drive. I installed first Kalyway 10.5.2 to harddrive dedicated to OS X (divided to 2 partitions). Bios settings: all ACPI options off, number of cpus 1. Kalyway was installed with default settings, no adjustments were needed. Kalyway worked after installation ok but GTX 260 was not recognized so the display resolution was limited to 1024x768. Hi' I have the almost the same hardware config, instead of gtx260, I have a 285'.. I've tried a lot of different bios settings, to just get kalyway 10.5.2 working, but with no luck. the dvd is the default iso file, the install completes okay, but first boot ain't working.. I have an idea, that it is the bios settings, like power mgmt, or something can you send the bios conf you are using ?, maybe it is the bios level ? best regards Bjarne Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185097-guide-scripted-yosemitemavericks-install-on-gigabyte-mobos/page/87/#findComment-1424357 Share on other sites

Thanks Yertil Are the KP Ethernet related? I've heard that, at least in some cases, attempting to throttle the bandwidth can create a KP or overall network slowdown. Have you tried Transmission? If it produces the same KP, you might try a different Ethernet driver - switch from RealtekR1000SL.kext to AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext, for example. best of wishes, MAJ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185097-guide-scripted-yosemitemavericks-install-on-gigabyte-mobos/page/87/#findComment-1425584 Share on other sites

alepus
Hi. I follow this guide step by step but i'm problems with the install.. I get: panic(cpu 0 caller 0x7fe29f60): "No HPETs available...CPU(s) configured incorrectly\n"@/SourceCache/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement-90/pmThread.c:148 Debugger called: <panic> and so on. My setup: Ga-ex58-ud5 i7 920 6x 2gb corsair 1600mhz 2x 1.5t sata drives Geforce gtx260 i installed Kalyway 10.5.2 from this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=100548 and i got it running. then i tried this guide to install snow leopard. (hdd mounted snowleopard_10a432_userdvd.dmg) all seemed good. but when i tried reboot and used -v arch=i386 it didnt work. i've also tried -s and i still get the panic. What can i do? edit: btw. used the Chameleon 2.0 RC3 bootloader if it helps any more.. If this is not an easy fix i dont mind reinstalling kalyway and all. and try to upgrade to snow leopard again, But what did i do wrong?? (so that it doesnt happen to me again. ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185097-guide-scripted-yosemitemavericks-install-on-gigabyte-mobos/page/87/#findComment-1426003 Share on other sites
MikeBuzzsaw
For those who have ethernet/torrent/networking problems and can't figure out how to fix it, I would suggest just buying a ethernet card. It's what I did and it seriously solved all my problems, but it's my lazy way out of it. Other than that, my hackintosh is 100% functional with bonjour, torrents, etc etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185097-guide-scripted-yosemitemavericks-install-on-gigabyte-mobos/page/87/#findComment-1426153 Share on other sites

alepus
Hi. I'm totally stuck! i've installed leopard+snowleopard 5 times now. still stuck. I use 132 bootloader cd, when it loads i remove the cd and ask it to boot from my usb drive that has Kalyway 10.5.2 mounted. it installs great (without the extras). aften reboot i have to: "-s" "/sbin/fsck -fy" "/sbin/mount -uw /" "passwd root ##" "touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone reboot and leopard boots fine. now i partition the second 1.5t drive with Disk Utility to be ready for SL. mount the snowleopard_10a432_userdvd.dmg to my usb hdd drive. RUN-PATCH_INSTALLER do the /extra install. go through option 2 (Chameleon 2.0 RC4) ,3 ,4,5 (move audio to /system and press N),6,7, and 19(reboot), all good. when it reboots it just boots back to leopard... why??? and if i go into BIOS and change the HDD priority to boot from the 2nd drive (the one with SL) i get a Boot0: error after DMI check. if i change the hdd priority back in bios it boot into leopard again. So, what am i doing wrong???? I've tried formatting both drives to fat32 (win xp boot cd) before i install Kalyway and partition with guid to journaled. and then follow the same install.. same boot0: error. also tried to delete to partitions so that the drives are unformatted before i enter kalyway install. i've tried RUN-PATCH_INSTALLER and setting the partition as active (option #3), rebooting and still boot0: error. tried the terminal in "kalyway" to use fdisk to set partition as active. same boot0: error. Second, forget Kalyway and your present SL.dmg. Once you have the Retail DVD, boot from your BootCD, redirect to the Retail DVD. Once in the Installer, run disk utility and partition your target HD into partitions that are less than 1t (SL doesn't like 1t+ HDs when configuring this way). Now install OSX. Do a custom install of only the basics - leave out the print drivers, extra fonts and languages. Once installed, reboot using the BootCD and redirect the load to your newly installed OSX. Now run DDs script to install a bootloader, make disk active, install kexts and DSDT patch (don't have to install OSX). Restart without the BootCD and you should boot into OSX (unless there are video problems - then the screen will probably fade to black). I installed Chameleon 2.0 RC4 on a usbstick and i'm now able to boot into snowleopard if using that usb-bootloader. got the black screen at first, but removed the NVDAresman.kext and it worked fine. I only have 1024x768 and 32mb vram. doesnt say what card. but i guess one could fix that. Would you recommend me to reinstall the leopard (and sl) with retail dvd even if its "sort of" up and running? If so.. Should i use that 132boot cd? and could i use a hddmounted retail leopard dvd and install it? Or should (if its possible) i use chameleon rc4 as bootloader for the leopard install? Its a bit annoying that i have to have that usbstick (with chameleon rc4 bootloader) to boot osx, it this fixable? if so, how? Edit: I dont know if i get you right... Do you mean that i only have to reinstall leopard, boot into leopard, run dds installer, and not reinstall SL ? everdone
Edit: I dont know if i get you right... Do you mean that i only have to reinstall leopard, boot into leopard, run dds installer, and not reinstall SL ? There is no need to install Leopard if your end desire to run SnowLeopard. You have a BootCD which will boot the machine and allow you to install from the SL DVD. Pretend you have a blank HD. Boot with the BootCD, change to the SL InstallDVD. Once you are in the Installer use DiskUtilities to partition the HD into partitions that are smaller than 1tbyte. Install SL as I indicated in the previous post. Once installation is done reboot using the BootCD and load your new SL install. Complete the setup procedure and run DD's script to install a bootloader, make the disk active, load the kexts and the DSDT patch. Once done with that restart into your new install. Now it is just a matter of fine tuning the install. For example, ethernet may not work, audio may not work, video may be at 1024x768 or totally blank. Except for video these are minor problems which can be fixed with different kexts, kext location (system or extra) and/or EFI strings for video. I_Spectre
Short SL Install Guide with Only FakeSMC in Extra So another guide for newbies, big thanks to LocusOfControl and d00d for his DSDT patching guide which can be found here. This guide is also based on DD's script...thanks DD. The guide also uses automatic Efi string injection meaning you wont need to generate efi strings for your GPU. AFAIK, it works for almost all Nvidia Cards and some Radeon Cards. I will not provide support for graphics issues as the solutions all over the forum. THE GOODIES This guide uses an extensively patched DSDT. aml file and requires only fakeSMC in the /Extra folder and a modified chameleon boot file for chameleon 2 RC4. I am using AsereBLN_v1.1.9 Bootloader which can be downloaded from here. Download the very first one and move these three files to the desktop. boot_with_embedded_theme boot0 boot1h Rename boot_with_embedded_theme to boot Go to the ~extra/Bootloaders/Chameleon_2.0_RC4/i386/ folder located in DD's script folder. Create a new folder called whatever and move boot, boot0 and boot1h into the folder you just created. Copy the three files you moved to the desktop to ~extra/Bootloaders/Chameleon_2.0_RC4/i386/ folder. The modded bootloader will be installed when you install Chameleon 2 RC4 using DD's script. ALTERNATIVE (Boot loader) The modded PCEfi 10.6 bootloader from Prasys' blog also works but I am not using that in this guide, if you want to use that one you can google it. THE LAST BIG NOTE (Sound) The DSDT is patched to use the original AppleHDA.kext in S/L/E (once again thanks to LocusOfControl. This works with the onboard sound 2.1 and you can achieve 5.1 surround sound by using the SPDIF port. Note that when you decide to use this option, the volume control on the keyboard will not work. NOTE: Sound is not active upon first boot because output is set to external microphone, open system preferences and fix this. The two kexts provided in DD's script for sound also work so if you are having problems with sound, install those kexts to your /Extra folder and reboot. WARNING!!! In order to use DD's script successfully to support this setup, you will have to remove some kexts from the 10.6 folder. Since fakesmc.kext is the only one needed in /Extra, move the other kexts to the _repository folder in the Misc_Patches folder. There shouldn't be kexts in the _ATA folder so move them to the _repository folder too. The same applies to audio unless you want to use the kexts provided by the script. INSTALLATION Install SL the way you normally do, either using DD's script or a BootCD, empire EFI works well with our boards. Apply the 10.6.2 update if needed, this is not necessary as you can update once you have the system running. Once you are done using DD's script, exit it and do not restart. Copy the attached EXT_DSDT you downloaded to your /Extra folder. I don't assume unless I really have to so I am assuming you used DD's script to install the necessary kexts.. FakeSMC to /Extra and Realtek to S/L/E for Networking. Reboot and cross fingers...hopefully you will be greeted by the OSX welcome Video :-) For the system to successfully wake up from sleep instead of restarting, you need to go into your system preferences, Energy saver and make sure that Start up automatically after a power failure is active. I have no known issues with this setup so if you come across any please send me a message or just post and I will do the best I can to help. tsigo
I'm looking into building my first Hackintosh, and I'm having trouble deciding between an i7-based system with this board, or a Core 2 Quad system which would basically follow the Lifehacker guide pretty closely. Would building an i7-based system be more problematic for a first-timer? It seems like it may have more issues that need to be worked around to get everything working properly. My build with DD's set up was pretty much painless and flawless, unlike my earlier hackintosh attempt with the MB in the Lifehacker build, though I did not use that guide. Essentially everything worked pretty much right out of the box with DD's guide. Just go with an nVidia graphics card (9800 of some sort is probably your best bet), SATA DVD & HD and you shouldn't have much of anything to worry about. The i7's are also MUCH more powerful than the Core 2 Quads. What boot Cd should i use? the one i used to install Leopard was called 132boot, and its an oooold version of chameleon(i'm at work now, cant check exactly what version). Is it possible to use that to start the SL retail install dvd? or is there a better bootloader? (newer?) Or doesnt it really matter? Why does DD say that One drive must already have OS X installed and running. before you can install SL on your 2nd HD? As i understand you right, what you say is to skip the Leopard install and go straight to the SL install, partition the 1 first HD into 2(or more) parts and install. And the Less than 1tbyte "rule". is that just for the drive that has the SL installed on. or ALL drives under SL. I have 2 x 1,5tbyte HD's. (meaning, should i partition the 2nd HD into 2 parts as well?) Thanks alot for the guidance! (I'm a mac user since a few years back, i know pc's well and have built a couple of them. But the whole thing with bootloaders and stuff is confusing. and yes, i feel like a fool ) EDIT: How do i create a preinstall boot cd/usb (to be able to boot SL install) from X58 Mobo Patch Installer.zip? EDIT2: I tried chameleon 2.0 rc3 r658 (http://chameleon.osx86.hu/articles/chameleon-20-rc3-with-snow-leopard-and-large-disk-support), installed it on the usbstick, booted it. and i get 3 options. everdone
My intend is to run SL only. What boot Cd should i use? the one i used to install Leopard was called 132boot, and its an oooold version of chameleon(i'm at work now, cant check exactly what version). This thread was started several months ago, at that time there was no BootCD which would allow one to boot this board and install SL. At that time the usual way to get started was from an existing Leopard install, either vanilla or one of the Leopard distros. There are now BootCDs available that will boot this board. If your BootCD will boot the board and allow you to switch to the SL DVD and install, then there is no need for a Leopard install. The less than 1t concern is only for the partition SL is to be installed on. If you have a working Mac you may want to try the Kakewalk method described in another thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=195248 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/185097-guide-scripted-yosemitemavericks-install-on-gigabyte-mobos/page/87/#findComment-1427149 Share on other sites

alepus
Google empire Efi boot CD and download the latest one. It works well on our baords thanks i'll try it! http://prasys.co.cc/2009/10/empire-efi/ which one should i choose? Empire EFI for Intel Core i7 and Intel X58 Chipset (V1.04 by aschar) -- This version is tuned for X58 Chipset. it contains support for X58 Chipset and you shouldn’t be getting any black screens on your X58 Chipset with Core i7 processors. aschar who is also an i7 user has built this cd (by the way -- knows exactly the do and donts of X58 and Core i7) . This version contains special X58 extensions , a guide on how to patch ALC889a codec (which is commonly found on X58 motherboards) and other X58 related stuff. or Empire V1.08 (for ATI 48xx series graphics card and nVidia GeForce GTX2xx series along with support for i5/i7 8xx series and P55 chipset) after the install. at what stage to i start to follow DD's guide? I_Spectre
Hi DD I do have a question! After following your guide with kexts for EVGA, I can boot up with the safe mode, "-x arch=i386." But without "-x" it won't boot. I tried with the kext utility for rebuilding cache, but no use. The screen stops at the same spot, it reads like this "AppleTyMCEDriver : :start coreVIDPID = 0xffffffff Number of packages = 1 Number of cpus = 8 memory monitor trough MCA" Do you have any suggetion? Thanks JP i am having the exact same problem. this is my system Intel i7 920 Quad core overclocked to 3.5Ghz EVGA X58 SLI LE Mobo 12 Gigs DDR3 1600MHz Memory EVGANvidia 250 GTS 1Gig mem video card 2 WD Black 1TB hard drives 2 Seagate 250Gig hard drives Antec P183 case can anyone please post help with a fix for this?
