trexplorer
I've searched this forum without luck. Running 10.4.6, Screen Saver on my setup won't work (dark screen, no images). Chess also crashes. Also spinning ball & very occasional delay (2-3 times for 4-5 seconds, over a 4-5 hour period) when manipulating directories, text or finder actions. 10.4.3 (SSE3) works without these problems. Comments welcome ... riktor
Same here I just thought it was because my video card isn't supported Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18063-screen-saver-chess-problem-1046-on-amd-x2-3800-nvidia-6600/#findComment-117962 Share on other sites
trexplorer
I've also tried running without MacVidia drivers, but same problems. I also have problems w Video playback on web sites like u-tube. I suspect the problem is related to the SSE2 mac_kernel or the AMD_Enabler. Antman
they require QE or CI not sure which one. same prob was here then I got Radeon 9550 for QE and CI support no more prob.. GERGÖ you sould have QE and CI check and be sure if not just enable it and see what happens.. U.C.
The latest macvidia drvers donot support QE/CI, thus we have weird chess / screensaer problems. As soon as QE/CI is enabled, everything will work, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/18063-screen-saver-chess-problem-1046-on-amd-x2-3800-nvidia-6600/#findComment-118432 Share on other sites
trexplorer
Since these problems were not evident in 10.4.3 (with or without MacVidia), I decided to try an install from another disk called "Mac Osx 10.4.6 X86 AMD-INTEL". This package appears to have been assembled by Myzar and does not experience the problems I had with the Jas disk (i.e., no screen saver and chess crashing ... and yes I checked the MD5 sums before installing). The combination of kexts in the Myzar package appear to work better with my AMD X2 3800 PC (ASUS A8N32-SLI nForce4 chipset). The myzar package also recognizes both of my ethernet adapters without any additional drivers. The Jas package does, however, work very well with my Dell E1505 core duo Intel laptop (GMA950 graphics). Thanks to all ... Cheers.
