olaeke
Hi, Is there an easy way to make a PC graphicscard, like e.g. the 8800GT or ATI 4850/70? I have searched the forum and web about flashing the cards with EFI rom, but I havent found anything that I find reliable enough... Is flashing the only way to make it work? Best regards Ola Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/180530-macpro-with-pc-graphics-card/ Share on other sites

Best regards Ola Yes, flashing would be the only way to make it work in a Mac Pro. You would have to make sure you got a model that was capable of being flashed with a Mac ROM as Macs have a larger firmware than the equivalent PC card. cbreaker
I suppose you could try the Hackintosh kext's like Natit and such. Although, I don't know if they'd work because the GPU probably needs to be initialized by a BIOS beforehand. Even if it did work, it would be a bit of a pain because you wouldn't be able to see the bootup graphics and stuff. Just a thought. I've never owned a "real" Mac so I don't know exactly how those things work. I know a bit about EFI but not specific to Apple computers. NeSuKuN
I've read that the newest mac pros don't need GPU reflashing, only need to adapt the power supply cables to feed the card :/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/180530-macpro-with-pc-graphics-card/#findComment-1237403 Share on other sites

Best regards Ola You might try here: http://themacelite.wikidot.com/ Also the ROM size will be smaller and you may have to physically change the roms.
