Hey mates,

I would like to have a dual boot with Windows 7 and Mac OS X Leopard (iDeneb 1.5.1 in my case)

When I tried iDeneb 1.5.1 as a standalone-OS, the installation went perfectly, but now, I did install Windows 7 first and wanted to install iDeneb 1.5.1 after that.

But while installing it, nearly at the end, my PC just restarts and then, while booting it hangs at "Verifying DMI pool data" (because OS X didn't install properly?)

So, my question is: What to do?

Choose another release than iDeneb?

Or did I only choose the wrong drivers before installing iDeneb?

Thanks a lot!

Are you sure that you installed a bootloader with MacOSX?

Make sure that your Mac OS is on the Master harddrive (check bios) so that the boatloader comes up. Otherwise, you'll need install Mac OSX first, ensure that it's all booting up correctly, then install windows 7 on a slave drive, or secondary partition.

Chameleon bootloader v2 has worked for me on a quad-boot (vista x64/Mac OSX/Win7/ubuntu).

Thanks a lot for the replys.

So, I have to do the following things:

1.Format HDD

2. Install Windows 7 on second partition (it automatically install "system-reserved"-files onto first partition)

3. Install Mac on third partition: - I shall install Chameleon v2 directly with the installation of Mac, or shall I  wait until installation is finished, then boot into Mac and install Chameleon v2 from there? Or isn't that possible? Or shall I try BootThink?

Thank you so much!

Windows needs to installed first. So do that. If you have a second HD then go ahead and install OSX. Once done installing OSX install the chameleon RC2 bootloader on the second HD where OSX is. When you reboot chameleon should boot up and then from there you can choose either windows or Mac. Now I don't run a dual boot, but after reading tons of posts on dual booting I'm pretty sure that's what you do.

Thank you so much mate!

But to clarify:

I only have one HDD, on what I want to run 2 partitions (one with Windows 7 and the other one with Mac OS X)

So I install Mac without any bootloader at first, then I am able to boot into Mac anyway?

In Mac then, I install Chameleon 2 RC2?

Ok so install windows on first partition and then OSX on the second. If there is something to check off in customize, I would then check off. I think most distros come with chameleon for hard drive. It's not RC2, but as long as you can boot OSX you can then install RC2 afterwards with no issues.

maybe it is helpfull to install win7 without system reserverd partition on MBR partition scheme, so do I.

I have Windows 7 on the same disk as IPC 10.5.6. What I did is install windows, imaged it, saved the image to a back up drive. I then partitioned the drive with the Mac disk utility ( set the second partion to fat32 ) , installed IPC 10.5.6 and then put the Windows 7 image on the second partition.

I can choose which OS I boot to via the Darwin Boot loader by pressing the down arrow at start up.

You can set the default OS by making the relevant partition active ( via a Linux Live CD )

Thanks..

I managed installing Windows 7 and Mac now, and while booting, Chameleon shows up and I can choose which OS I want to boot.

Leopard boots flawlessly, but when I want to boot Windows 7 it says,

0xc000000e, "The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"

Is this problem common?

Thanks a lot for helping me out!

Thanks..

Sorry to bump somewhat of an old thread, but I also have this issue.

Installed iATKOS v7, it boots, but windows 7 does not.

Partitions: 1=System Reserved 2=Windows 7 and 3=OSx86

Have tried doing the repair on the win7 DVD, no luck.

Also tried marking the "System Reserved" and partitions as active, no luck there either.

Windows Error: failed to boot because the device is inaccessible.

Anyone know how I can get my Windows 7 to boot properly?

Any help would will be appreciated. Thanks.

Things I did to my PC before all my mess.

I used EASEUS partiton to make my HD shrink for make the partition for the mac. (i guess for vistas and win7 you just messed up your PC right here)

then I installed the Mac iATKO V7 on the partition and everything went great... got it working perfect.

then I tried entering windows from the chameleon 2 boot loader and it failed with winload.exe missing or corrupt.

tried bootrec /fixboot (failed to load, missing something or corrupt)

tried bootrec / fixmbr (failed also)

tried Vista recovery (couldn't detect windows Vista partition)

tried fixing start up through recovery cd... failed (don't know why I tried this many times...win was not detected so it would never work)

Re-install mac (mac worked, windows failed still)

Finally I found the solution.

this is still me typing my version...I jsut added the top part to explain what I went through.

hey well I just saw this message while trying to fix my boot problem for windows vista, and the post above mine is the exact same problem I was having... no solutions I could find online helped until I found this one... in Portuguese (I'm Brazilian).

(this is what I found in the Brazilian forum, the basics... all comments are mine)

If your PC enters mac IATKOs V7 and shows the windows vista but when you press load vista it just fails with fail error winload.exe etc.....

I tried everything to get windows to work and nothing did until this following thing.

(also if you put the windows vista recovery CD but the system does not detec any windows partition in the list menu) (2nd window you see in the recovery process, just before you enter the recovery/command prompt options)

Put windows recovery cd and enter the(command) Dos prompt

type c:

and type enter diskpart

a little program will start, there; I kind of play my way around the program to understand which drive i had to select so I went...

list disk (here it only showed my one hard driver mine 120GB.)

but what you want to see is each partition so..

type " list volume" (you should see the windows C partition and probably a recovery partition.)

then I pressed so to select press select volume C

Then I typed Active (and the volume activated or something.)

done, now with the CD still in the driver restart the PC and go back to the recovery system again, this time the windows partition will be visible the recovery system will detect it and will fix it. but wait there is more, in the end it will ask to reboot the pc, I kept the recovery cd in and did a 2nd recovery of the windows partition.

then I don't know if this was necessary but I went back to the command prompt and typed "bootrec /fixmbr" this time it was successful and I restarted the pc and windows vista was finally back online.

P.S. I don't know what happen to the chameleon 2, but all i care is, I got my windows Vista working now I can re-install iATKOs correct after I play with the BCDeasy.... thingy.

I hope this can help millions of people =)

to complete a thought here.... I went to windows vista now and installed BCDeasy opened selected "add new entry", then selected "mac" and made MBR instead of "EFI" now both OS are working... and I never had to reinstall either OS....=)

the original post by avcoura Oct 9 2009, 07:26 PM Você está conseguindo acessar o windows e o mac não certo?

Então você instalou o windows e depois o mac, certo??

Faz assim:

active

exit

Aqui vai sair do diskpart, então digite reboot e retire o cd do windows
