So i tried whit Iatkos V7 and yes i can do it. Leave the bios setup as default. Just enable de USB Legacy, enable ACPI 2.0 and change the HDD from SATA to AHCI. I choose this drivers into the customize Iatkos DVD install... Leave the drivers selected by Iatkos. Chamaleon V2 Kernel 9.7.0 Voodo OHR Ethernet Realteck 1000 EFI VGA/DVI Nvidia NForce SATA/IDE Generic IDE NTFS Voodo PS/2 Audio Voodo After Install I have Ethernet, sound, Graphics Video, Keyboard, mouse, USB and DVD IDE working!!!!. I have installed in one HD MAC and the other Windows 7. You can update the O.S. from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8. If you have any problem let me know maybe I can help you in english or spanish. Issues: These are the problems after install and how did I fixed: DVD-RW by IDE do not appear into the O.S.......Solution: I installed the generic IDE kext from DVD installation. ManiacBS
Hey! Thanks for sharing your solution. I tried this, but got an kernel panic. Can anybody help me? I don't understand anything... Do I get this error, because I tried to use the onboard NVidia 8200? Should I buy another video card like a 9500GT or so? Thanks for your help! This message appears after intstall? Because there are an error when you finish the install (kernel panic) just ignore it and restart the pc manually. Other thing my audio is VT1708B from VIA so do not install ALC just Voodo. TheVegetator
Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou! I have been trying for weeks to install OSX and had just about given up. Now I have a lovely MAC to play with. One small issue.... During boot, a few seconds after the apple logo appears, I have to press the power button on my PC. This causes the twirly progress icon to appear and spin, otherwise it just sits there. In verbose mode it seems to be waiting for the boot device. I formatted by drive as MBR with 2 partitions. Can you advise if you did the same? Or have any ides as why mine is misbehaving slightly? I have 2 SATA drives and 1 IDE drive connected. I am booting from SATA 1. Thanks for any help you can give (though you have helped immensely already!) Naerymdan
It seems updating with 10.5.8 then going through the iAtkos v7 installation (but without main system) works quite well EXCEPT for the network. The M3N78-VM worked perfectly on 10.5.7 with Realtek R1000 but the network doesn't work on 10.5.8. Any ideas what driver to use instead? I just can not get my audio to work! Tried to select "Voodoo Audio" during install, but than I always get an kernel panic during boot. I followed a tip from another forum which told me to select the "ACPI X86" too, but this didn't change anything... Every boot a kernel panik! I just don't understand why this doesn't work for me when it works for you! Thanks for your help! ManiacBS
Hey there! Did you choose any different sound codec in the bios than the default "internal & external codec"? universeforce
Hey there! Did you choose any different sound codec in the bios than the default "internal & external codec"? I've choose internal codec. The external is for HDMI Audio and internal for VT1708B. Maybe this can fix your problem. I don't have that problem. After install Iatkos i could upgrade to 10.5.8 whitout any problem but maybe you can try whit any diferent kext for the network or maybe you should reinstall it whit the rights permissions (just the kext). I can give you some kext for the ethernet just tell me the model and I will attach it here. Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou! I have been trying for weeks to install OSX and had just about given up. In one HDD I installed the O.S. and in the other HDD Windows 7 and I can choose from chameleon windows 7 or O.S. ¿Why you should press the power button? TheVegetator
I also installed on separate SATA drives, but on boot-up it just hangs midway through unless I 'tickle' the power button. I tried MBR & GUID - both the same. I reinstalled on the IDE drive and it now works correctly (though slow access and it sees my 160GB drive as 128GB) Hopefully a new, improved, generic IDE driver will appear and improve this... malvadojedi
Hi thanks for you thread, just what I've been looking for. Has anyone managed to get the onboard graphics card to work? Thank in advance P.S. Just realised that my board is a M3N78-EM not VM as far as I can tell the sound card is a Realtek ALC1200 & the graphics is a NVIDIA GeForce 8300. Any chance this will still work? I'll give it a go and let you know. malvadojedi
Well it was a struggle, but I managed to get everything installed in the end. I found that having legacy enabled gave me loads of headaches, works flawlessly without it. Also I had to use the NVDAResman.kext trick for mac to boot, (I'm using the onboard graphics) otherwise it would just hang. Managed also to update to 10.5.8, although I had to use the above trick again!!! after the update, using Safari v4 right now :-) . I'm stuck with 1024x768 resolution though, which is a {censored} on a 23" Monitor!!! Ordered a new pcie card, hopefully it'll arive soon, then I'll try a Snow Loepard install Regards Frank Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/178348-mac-1057-in-asus-m3n78-vm-successful/#findComment-1393795 Share on other sites
