Will this work on the Macbook as well? I'm thinking about getting one.

This is already enabled on the new MacBooks and 17" MacBook Pro.

Only the 15" MacBook Pro is missing it, and this remedies it until Apple releases a software update with it.

=)

No success. Everything unchanged.

Do you have a 15" MacBook Pro running 10.4.6?

Have you enabled the checkbox in your mouse preferences?

EDIT: I successfully disabled and re-enabled it on mine just to test the installer. But you do have to go turn it on for it to work after install.

So John, just to confirm, you've enabled the "Two Finger Right Click Thing" on a 15" MacBook (that didn't originally come with the functionality)? If so, you've just made a lot of Mac users happy.

Just to check. I feel a digg coming on... :P

Yes I have. But we're still waiting for confirmation of the installer.

15" MBP: check

10.4.6: check

Checkbox enabled?: there was no new checkbox (like the one shown on the screenies)

Testing again now.

Attached is an image with the new checkbox. You have to enable it after you restart.

yes, this is exactly what I am looking for, but it looks different here.

Oh cr@p, d1g1ta7 gave me an English-only Preference Pane!

Anyone have the multi-lingual version?

EDIT: You should be able to set your language to English, check the box, and then resume all German settings. The Property List will remember the setting.

We'll drum up a multi-lingual installer and re-post it.

yes, it was the german... f**k i can as well live with an english osx :)

Working and OK!

Many Thanks!

Once you go back to German text, does the setting remain? It should.

=)

Yes, setting remains.

Now we do not need a touchpad-button anymore *g*

Ok, try running this new installer. It should replace the old one with a multilingual preference pane that has that option.

For those of you just joining us, this package installer will replace your 15" MacBook Pro Trackpad driver with the current one that is shipping with MacBooks and 17" MacBook Pro models.

Once you run the installer and restart, you must go to your trackpad Preference Pane (within Keyboard and Mouse) and enable the right-click option to use it. (It is unchecked by default)

Also included is an installer to restore the default 10.4.6 files in the event Apple requires them for future updates.

Secondary_Trackpad_Click.zip

Posted on digg here

Could you perhaps DIGG to this address instead: (http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?s=&showtopic=17685&view=findpost&p=118012) so the lost and confused get straight to the installer?

I'm betting that those who end up at the top of this page will install your framework and get p*ssed at us when it doesn't work. :)

Oh, and since I never thanked you proper... thanks for the pieces to the puzzle!

Thought that linked to your post, sorry.

It's ok, I saw that you re-digged it again:

=)

EDIT: Oh, well. They'll figure it out.

I just installed this and although it works (thanks!), now whenever I start my mac i get the following error

System extension cannot be used.

The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/AppleHIDMouse.kext“ was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update.

I also get the error if i reinstall the old driver that you provided in the zip, so yep im stuck with the error at the moment.

btw i have a macbook pro with os x 10.4.6

Does this work on Powerbooks?

.:: Edit ::.

Dammit.... *Insert Fuming Directed at Apple* no this doesn't work on Powerbooks...
