Needing help concerning my video card

So i finally got my onboard ethernet working, but i still need help

whenever i start chess or ichat for example, they will just crash

i read that its prob caused by my ati drivers

also, my maximum resolution is 1024*768 in osx, but its really 1280*1024 :/

where can i download the drivers i need, or what can i do?

im using osx 10.4.3 8f1111

sound slike you havent added your device and vedor id to your driver info.plist. (must have an ati radeon or greater)Search the forums, you should find your answer. By doing this you will enable quartz extreme, coreimage.

 

btw native resolution changing is not yet available (other than on the GMA900 graphics cards) you can however change the resolution by editing the "com.apple.boot.plist", also search the forums for this

I fixed resolution but i need help with getting chess/ichat working

btw, did you mean to say radeon 9500 or higher instead of radeon or higher

 

can my 256mb radeon 9250 have QE or CI working?

if its the video card, how come chess ichat works in ppc mac minis that have a radeon 9200?

I just realized something, the reason the dotn work is because opengl doesnt work

how can i opengl to work? can anyone tell me some instructions or something?

First you have to find out which ATI kext is your card using: ATIRadeon9700.kext or ATIRadeon8500.kext.

Then you should try adding your device ID to Info.plist in the appropriate kext and see what's happening.

8500, i added my device id (0x5960) to it but it does nothing

I have mobility radeon 7500, how do I enable OpenGL ?

go to system profiler, go under graphics/displays and get your device id there

then if you are gonna edit AtiRadeon8500 type this in the terminal

sudo nano /System/Library/Extensions/AtiRadeon8500.kext/Contents/Info.plist

and find IOPCImatch and change it with your device id that you got from system profiler

 

also, i forgot to say, if i remove the ati drivers chess and ichat work, except i have no 3d acceleration and chess is REALLY slow, takes forever for it to move my pieces, ichat is ok
