Hey,

I could almost garrentiee you that Your hard drive is in Great condition. When you used Mac OS X utilty you formatted it in a macintosh format so that the Bios Can't read it . Unless you find software that will let you format your hard drive so that the bios can read it again your screwed and your hard drive will only be useful in a Apple computer. Though I do Have good news :D HP and other company support lie a lot they have a lack of training. The only thing they know to do is say please send it to us so we can charge you obsene amounts of money to do what you could do if we really helped.

Hey, we could have warned you ahead of time if you had asked :D HP stands for 'Hates People', and I tell everyone I know who is looking into computers how much they suck...Apple seems to be making the only computers all around that don't suck, and even they seem to be having 'issues' with the mbps so, mmmm.

No, I haven't tried ALL manufacturers..but alot. The VAIOs seem to be nice, but I've never used one exstensively...I hate sony for who they are and what they do anyways...I mean, who can trust a company that steals firewire, calls it something totally different (ilink or some {censored}) and then say that you need to buy Sony branded cables for it to work...when it's really just a firewire port!?!?!

Enough ranting though, the Toshiba satellites rock...also, to your hard drive, most programs in Windows WILL show a HFS hard drive as being corrupted or ruined...Partition Magic shows that. Acronis Disk Director identifies it correctly for what it is though, even though it can't read how much data etc is on it, it knows it's not bunk...not like those HP crapholes.

Does it have room? That I can't answer, I've never seen your pc...is it capable? Probably. If you have the 99% standard 2 IDE channels, those are capable of running 4 IDE devices, 2 each (your optical drives are IDE too btw). On occasion I have seen a mobo with only one IDE port...

If it's a SATA drive, or if you have SATA ports, then theres more. Most mobos with SATA usually have two sata ports, making it easy to connect 2 hard drives...with a breakout bay you could connect 12 (sata expanders are expensaive though, don't consider it unless you intend to run a multi-disk raid array and have alot of $).

SO, you're average modern motherboard can potentially have 6 hard drives connected easily, if you have no optical drives. You'd have to consider your power supplies amperage on the 12v rails for that to though...although what many people estimate varies depending on wether you have an intel or amd system. The newer amd's are super low powered, very cool.

ANYWAY, chances are even if you have a run of the mill wal-mart PC, there will be an easy way to slap at least one more hard drive in it with no worries about anything.

why r u bumping this topic??

just check whether ur hdd is actually damaged or not by using utilities out there --> Windows 98 (Boot Disk -- Scandisk), Windows XP chkdsk or simple by reading or writing data.

See this is a very evident problem,i too faced a problem similar to this when one of my FAT32 partition on SATA HDD was actually got wiped out while using Mac OS X, when i did not properly shut down my system.

SUGGESTION--> CHECK(HDD GOOD OR BAD)

IF BAD--> REPLACE OR PURCHASE NEW ONE.

IF GOOD --> REFORMAT IT.

DO NOT RAISE THIS TOPIC AGAIN

SINCE WE ARE NOT USING A LEGAL WAY, IT IS SENSELESS TO REPORT DAMAGES.

BY THE WAY ALWAYS BACK UP UR DATA SINCE OS X IS VERY SENSITIVE AND ALSO TRY USING NTFS PARTITION ( AS THEY ARE READ ONLY IN OS X) FOR STORING IMPORTANT DATA.

or can somebody just ban the lamer. it'll be a great service to us all

Why do all you guys turn to BANing people. Some jack ass who didn't like my friend Xeniczone got him banned for no good reason. Most people said he made then laugh the guy who got him banned said he pissed people off.

oh thats why hes in the banned group, i thought it was some kind of joke :)

xeniczone made you laugh? :hysterical:

Dude, you have to be on drugs to find him funny. He was a weird lost sole. You can tell from his opinions he totally doesn't belong here. It seemed he only joined to give people a headache. Gave me on for defo.

I mean just read some of his comments on this post:

Best laptop for running OSX x86

here a few of his comments

I'm the retart. wow. Your trying to illegaly run Mac OS X on a Machine that doesn't even support it. And is really out of date.

Apple PowerBook is the best laptop to run it on. It is up-to-date runs a intel core duo, and simple to install mac os x on. First you get the disk put it in the drive and hold "c" till it starts the install. No messing with the mess up {censored} of 2 hard drives download this iso fix and bla bla bla {censored}.

You asked for the best one I gave it to you. If you really have a problem with that I'm sorry for your stupidity, and if you don't already own a laptop then why are you trying to buy one then try something you don't even know will fully work on it? When you buy a powerbook you know your supporting Apple. Your legally obtaining a Mac OS X cd. You know you can run XP on it using boot camp. And hell you know your getting a great support service not a bunch of geeks on a forums trying to help you do something not really even worth while.

Everyone likes to be an ass because I don't like people STEALing make OS X. I'm trying to find a way to do it without haven't to download the Mac os x thing. I would guess more then 85% of the losers on these forums have a illegal version of mac os x download and are using.

Maybe Apple sent him. Too bad it didn't work. YOU HEAR ME, IT DIDN'T WORK!

And this is what people had to say:

xeniczone, if you don't like what you see in these forums there's such a thing as the log out button. I suggest you try it. The fact is most of the people here enjoy the challenge of tweaking their computers to do things more than what they were intended to do. If you are happy with your mac then we're all elated for you. I also suggest you join an exclusively mac forum that'll suit your needs. That way all of us can be happy doing our own bussiness. Peace!
... LEAVE US ALONE!!!
Just Ban the user thats craping the thread.
Ok admin close this down...

It even says under his name: "I :wub: pissing people off"

Some mate! :D
