DarkBond13
Does anyone know any solutions to get the onboard audio to work on the Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR motherboard. I've tried ALC889a, ALC888, and HDAEnabler but I can't seem to get them to work. Thanks in advance! dtufano
My setup is running flawlessly with this board, but audio is illusive for me as well! Seems no matter which ktext I install, they all result in an unbootable kernel. I know for certain this board uses the ALC888 not the 889, can anyone who has this same EXACT (Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR) board comment on how they got audio working!! defn
Did you try the DMG that is linked from the compatibility wiki page? http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.6 I just ordered this board for my install and this thread is making me nervous. Has anyone had any luck getting this working? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/163126-audio-on-ep45-ud3lr/#findComment-1166395 Share on other sites

My setup: UD3LR Rev 1.0 with F5 BIOS nVidia 9800 GT 512 E8600 3.33ghz 8GB Patriot DDR2 800 Retail 10.5.6 clean install updated to 10.5.7 before installing anything else. (EFI string for video and ethernet done before upgrade) Chameleon 2 RC1 using /Extra folder off root (not the EFI partition but should work the same). KEXTs in my /Extra/Extension1 folder are: AHCIPortInjector.kext AppleDecrypt.kext Disabler.kext IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext KEXTS to get audio working were installed in the System/Library/Extensions folder using Kext Helper b7 AppleHDA.kext HDAEnabler.kext Both from this link 1.6.2a37 888.zip I fought with it for several hours until I noticed that ALCinject.kext was in my /Extra/Extension1 folder. Removed it and recompiled the mkext in /Extra/Extension1 folder. On reboot everything worked. I should write a guide for this mobo as I didn't find one specifically for this board but using several guides and a little experimentation I was able to get everything working with very little "helpers". James, that's awesome! I am very glad to hear it. My parts should all be here by Wednesday: Q8400 2.66Ghz Yorkfield Quad Core Processor Gigabyte-EP45T-UD3LR mobo (not sure on the BIOS, but I assume it's rev 1.0 F5) Nvidia 9800 GTX+ (supposedly the EFI string for the 9800GTX works for the GTX+) 2x 1TB WD Caviar HDs 8GB DDR3 1066 You have the EP45T-UD3LR right? Would you do me an enormous favor and put together either a guide, or the modified kexts you're using? The mediafire link you posted for the audio kext is dead. I'd be happy to help you out on your guide given some of my specs are a little different (DDR3, for instance). Thanks in advance! I know this is obvious, but have you made sure you removed the old audio kexts you installed? Take a hard look through your Extensions folder to make sure. I remember when I had to get audio working my T61p, and after trying about 10 different options things were messy. StevoJD
Sorry for the long bump but I also have a UD3LR and I came across this, and luckily I now have audio but unfortunately there is virtually no bass with the audio. If I use VoodooHDA it works fine with bass, but it's buggy so I'd rather not have to use VoodooHDA. Do you guys also have a problem with bass? The sound is tiny and flat with the AppleHDA.kext... I'm on 10.5.7 too by the way. Edit: I fixed it. Just in case anyone else has this problem, all I did was install the Audio kexts included in this pack. THANK YOU JamesDH for the pack! The problem with that pack is that the AppleHDA.kext is a patched version of 1.5.7, which is kind of old OS X 10.5.5 - AppleHDA.kext v1.5.7 OS X 10.5.6 - AppleHDA.kext v1.6.2 OS X 10.5.7 - AppleHDA.kext v1.6.8 Has anyone been able to successfully patch the latest version for ALC888 compatibility? There seem to be kexts based on v1.6.2 but I've seen nothing for v1.6.8 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/163126-audio-on-ep45-ud3lr/#findComment-1192146 Share on other sites

SomniusX
old thread but i need your help. i've created a guide to use voodoohda with helper etc (check end of post) but i need the Legacy patched for 889a cause when i get back from sleep with voodoo i got flickering sound (only after sleep). so anybody can help me? tried the patched applehda rolledback on 10.6.2 that works, but i'm on 10.6.4 and there goes my guide.. I'd like to note something out about the ep45-ur3lr mobo on 10.6.4 about "audio" and the damn 889a chip i'm using cartri's macbios v0.7m and i've tried everything, hdaenabler, patched legacyhda, patched applehda on e/e and s/l/e, plus all combinations found on the net.. nothing.. plus straight voodoohda the only way was with a patched voodoohda and the helper run on boot, if not i get KP on each boot. i'm gonna quote the way i did it for future reference, works ok sound ok it just cracks after sleep/wake but now i'm on ssd so i boot in 8-9secs () Where to put VoodooHDA.kext info /System/Library/Extensions using Kext Helper and then Kext Utility and NO REBOOT "YET" Where to put the "Helper" app copy the VoodooHDA folder that has "voodoohdahelper" inside it as the picture about info /Library so it's gonna be like /Library/VoodooHDA/voodoohdahelper.. Now for the Launcher App to use "voodoohdahelper" on each boot. Take the "Voodoo HDA Helper.app" and place it inside your /Applications/Utilities folder Then open System Preferences and go to and to "Login items" tab then.. Drag Voodoo HDA Helper.app from inside Utilities into the startup Apps box so its going to be executed on each boot without popping up a Terminal window and thats it mates.. download the .zip with all the files needed for this guide from here http://hellasproject.com/files/voodoo_guide.zip (if someone likes to mirror it please be my guest, inside also is this guide to copy paste it on other forums [bbcode ready] that is ) hope it helps.. if someone knows a better way by using other kext like AppleHDA (patched) please guide me through !
