I've recently heard some people were complaining about Chess not working on their hardware.

I've done a custom build with my own optimizations and code fixes.

Try this one and please report back.

The installer contains two versions:

- a 32-bit only version which might be required for some... (if 64-bit problems)

- a 32/64-bit version most will want...

diff is also available for those who want to look.

Enjoy...

Oh wow, I just asked someone for the favor of send me the chess app that I don't have and my awesome friend Andy updated this awesome app, thanks a lot, I will test it :)

Works great, thanks a lot Andy!!!!

No problem, I got tired of Apple making errors / outdated routines in the Chess software so I rewrote...

Should fix it all for everybody. :P

Hi Andy

I don't even know if it's supposed to work for me. I got a eeepc 701 running 32 bit only on voodoo kernel. I installed the 32 bit only version, i see the board but when i click the board the app crashes.

Thanks for looking into this.

You need QE/CI or it won't work...

You can allways try the 32/64-bit version... it will default to 32-bit app on 32-bit only...

Hi Andy

I do have QE/CI. 32 bit is what i tried, but it dies.

Oh well...

And the universal binary with 4 archs? (32/64-bit)

Try it please and report back...

you are using 9.6.0 kernel in a 10.5.5 system which only support SSE2? oh boy... no wonder why you have problems...

Agreed... you need full 10.5.6... that isn't so healthy...

You need QE/CI or it won't work...

is there any chance to see a version that doesn't need QE/CI (or, more accurately, that does its drawing without OpenGL*)?

* pretty slow I know, but it's the only way for my graphics card ;)

This is illegal.

Nope it ain't...

You still need ADP free membership to build and anybody can make adjustments to the source (as long as it honors APSL...).

For once I built something which contains no illegal code at all and then they still say it is illegal...

It is only a more modern version than the one Apple seeds with OS X 10.5.6...

Check everything better before you make accusations please.
