try the attached UD3R zip file in first post. I haven't got it to work either, but don't really care since i will be installing an NI KORE to use for audio

i'm having one lil problem with my video card. while everything is working CI/QE i cannot change resolutions

i get a blue screen when i try to change it from 1020 * 768 to 1280 * 1024. it just stays there, i have to hit escape to go back to the original resolution i'm running in.

any tips/ideas to solve this will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

I haved tried the UD3R zip in first post. Could not get it to work either. If no other solution, i got to get a compatible sound card.

I did not tried changing resolution for my video card. Currently i'm using ATI 4850 ...happy it work at 1920x1080. Did u install the seatbeat kext?

well i installed iPC 10.5.6 and all seems fine. dmg's are mounting without a problem and the rest seems fine too. just the video card when i try and change resolutions. i'm going to do a search about this and see if i can find a solution or something.

the sound card in this mobo is alc888. that driver seems to be floating around. at least i saw it listed on the iPC installation disc when i was installing it on my machine

edit: found a workaround for the resolution problem while searching, plugged the monitor into the DVI port and it works now in other resolutions other than 1024*768 ^_^

i'm a happy camper now

Haha. Stupid me. I forget to install the legacy kext. My hackintosh is fully functional now. Its time for benchmarking. Which benchmarking tool is gd?

Thanks for all the help i was given on this forum.

Congrats!

I use GeekBench. I bought it so I could use the 64 bit version. Good stuff.

Last night I did a full backup and reinstalled using this tutorial here...

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t=#entry1057770

Everything is working (almost). I'm still trying to get my video card fully functional... almost there. I used NVkush to get the original install completed... now I'm adding in the GFX strings and deleting the nvkush.kext.

That gets you to the 9.7.0 kernel with a FULL install. Good stuff.

So I've got a brand new system and I'm doing my first OSX86 installation and looking for some help.

My system

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R

Intel i7 920

6GB G.skill @ 1600MHz

Nvidia GTX 280

If I follow the instructions in this thread, will it work on my system? I've read that the GTX 280 is not supported. Is that true? If it is possible to get it to work, which kext driver do I use from the iATKOS 5i disc? Even if I don't have full support for my video card, as long as there is a kext that'll make it run in the mean time I'll be okay with that.

EDIT: I read VESA support is possible for this card. Can anyone explain how to get it working with VESA mode (in as noob steps as you can).

And from the instructions I am confused on a couple things

He says install the following drivers:

"Intel ICH AHCI" and "Jmicron IDE"

My disc has "Intel AHCI SATA" and "jMicron". In the description of jMicron, it says "jMicronATA.kext - jMicron controller support". I don't see anything about IDE. None of those match up word for word of what he said so I was wondering if those are right.

Thanks for the help, guys! This forum is awesome.

  • 2 weeks later...

I managed to install 10.5.5 with a iDeneb 1.3 CD. Worked like a charm and I decided to use the iDeneb combo update to 10.5.7

Now when I boot I get this message:

jnl: unknown-dev: replay_journal: from: 3483648 to: 5643264 (joffset 0x192000)

jnl: unknown-dev: journal replay done.

And then the system freezes. I have no idea what this is and couldn't find anything interesting. I've disabled firewire in bios and plugged out all my usb devices, even the keyboard. Bootflags are "busratio=20 -f -v"

Any help appreciated!

I appreciate that this thread isn't based around the Boot-132 method, but I'm having some trouble installing and could use some help. To help try and diagnose the problem here's a bit of info on my pc: I'm using a GA-EX58-UD3R (obviously) and an i7 920 clocked to 4.0ghz. I think my BIOS settings are as they should be; AHCI enabled and CDROM as my primary boot device (although I doubt that makes much difference).

Anyway, I had trouble finding a Boot-132 ISO geared up for this motherboard so I took it upon myself to try and create my own. I took the kexts provided in the ZIP file from this thread and put them into the 'Extra/Extensions' folder of the original Boot-132 I had downloaded. I then wrote those to disc and it boots absolutely fine, although when I insert my Leopard 10.5.6 retail DVD my computer shuts off. I then tried it with some startup options such as '-x -v' and '-x -v -f' which gave me the same result. Any idea what could be causing this?

I would appreciate some guidance from those who have used the Boot-132 method; where to get certain resources etc.

Thanks in advance.

I never got boot132 to work. But after getting iatkos running I used the UD5R script from here but just removed the audio drivers http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=149505 so now I am running vanilla 10.5.7

UD5R? do you mean UD3R?

what did you add or change when you used DD's script? which kernels/kexts did you move?

You said you removed the audio drivers? what did you use for the audio then?

thanks

I just removed the audio drivers.

You can use voodoohda but only for stereo sound. I have a audigy 2 card an i installed kXAudioDriver-1.2b1 after it booted ok.

cpus=1 Problem on i7 920, MB GA-EX58-UD3R:

Hi All,

i need help to resolve my problem being not able to use all 4 cores.

My specs:

MOBO: GA-EX58-UD3R (BIOS reseted to standard, otimized "of course with AHCI setting")

Proc: i7 920 (Not overcloced)

Power supply: COUGAR 1000W

Grafik: 2 x ATI 4890 - srossfired (fully functioning with one or all 4 cores)

RAM: 3 x 2GB DDR3 1600

I have tried Retail installation, iAtkos 10.5.7 v7, both with various kernel versions of Vanilla, and Voodoo.

All kernels will be run only with flag cpus=1.

without "cpus=1" flag i get boot and run system for some minutes. I can work on it, or let it stay alone, but after few minutes freeze system without letting me some advice in log files or some where else.

Temperature Monitor shows me between 35 - 45 degree for all 8 threads.

If some one has any suggestions, that i can do here?

Thanks

which driver kills the kernel?:

i have got my system stable running with all 4 cores, but i have to use the flag "-x". Of course no sound, HW accel, and so on.

i have run "kextstat" on the system with -x flag. After that i have booted system without any flag. I got here posibility to run kextstat to get the list of all loaded drivers. After 20 sec. freezes system as expected.

I extracted list of drivers, that where not loaded with flag -x (stable system). Also i have now a list of drivers, and one of them brings the kernel to die. Here they are:

Questions:

1. Which one could be a problem for kernel? If any expiriences here ?

2. how can i advise the kernel not to boot some driver ?

OKay, so after I install OSX and I run the first boot with busratio=20 -f -v it starts to run and then I get a black screen with some white and colored lines through it and it just sits there. Any tips?

Im running:

GA-EX58-UD3R

Intel i7 920

Radeon HD4850

3g DDR3

Problem Resolved! (AirPort.Atheros.kext was a bad one)

For network i use a PCI card - D-Link DWA-547, which usualy recognised as a native Airport Card. (No need for any drivers or work a rounds). In my case it was this driver for Atheros Card, that caused kernel freezes (without even a panic message).

So i downloaded old Apple AirPort Extreme Update 2007-004 , extracted IO80201Family.kext and placed this one instead of myne.

Right now i have fully working system with Retail installation on GA-EX-UD3R

with 2 x 4890, sound, wlan, bluetooth, AND running 8 cores of i7 920! :(

Hi Bays,

i am not realy a spetialist, but i would think, it could be a problem on your graphic driver. At first try to run your system with cpus=1 flag. If you can not get into your system with cpus=1, than use flag -x (this loads only important extensions and drivers). Or with flag -s, here you will get only access to the shell, so you can manage kext extensions. Look after howtos for your graphic card.

You need a posibility to

Thanks a lot we are getting somewhere! Ok So I was able to log on with -x. And I am now trying to install a video driver. However this calls for me to boot as -s and when I try to do that it gets stuck at a screen saying...

:/ root# ERROR: FireWire unable to determine security-mode; defaulting to full-secure.

Any ideas?

First: your problem has nothing to do with firewire

second: if you can run your system with -x, than you do not need -s at boot time any more. Just

start your system with -x.

Install your video driver as described in your vid. card howto

for the case, if you need terminal session, so you can find it in application folder.

to log in as a root, just type "sudo -s"

Thanks for your guide+run through on EX58-UD3R mobo!

Installed great on first boots.

Computer Specs:

Core i7 920

GA-EX58-UD3R

[1600MHz DDR3] <- Gigabyte site shows 1600 is not supported but it works sweet.

9800GT 1Gb.

For people that can't boot**

Make sure AHCI is enabled along with USB/Mouse/Keyboard

Disk is not missing any files

busratio=20 at advanced boot.

Thanks again!

Hi,

i have the same board (rev. 1.6) running 10.5.7 Vanilla Retail Install. Everything works fine EXCEPT two things:

- shutdown

- sleep

When i try to shut it down, the computer shuts down normally but boots up again after some time.

What kexts do you guys use to fix this? I'm using /Extra folder with

EHCISleepEnabler.kext

OpenHaltRestart.kext

Any ideas?
