Intel DG45ID Success installation

I have the same mobo, and get the circle and slash when I try to install.

 

I'm posting this from my DG45iD (stupid 'i') using the ethernet (Intel82566MM.kext) but I have no audio yet and only 1024x768. Only took about 15 mins to install total! I was also able to use the firewire from boot to get on the net using internet sharing via my real Mac.

 

Now I need to see if the HDMI will work on my TV.

 

Oh, and this thing BLAZES compared to my little Mac Mini. Man I hope I can get this totally working, mostly, I love OSX. This would make a killer HTPC, which is kinda why I bought this MB.

I have the same board. I used iDeneb 1.4. Took less than 15 minutes to install here too.

 

there are no video or audio drivers for this board yet. don't even bother.

 

I got a SIIG USB audio card, an older ATI Radeon 2400 por PCIe video card and the thing blazes. Full 7.1 audio, and fulle QE/CI video support.

 

You might need to update the USB divers to get USB sticks and other USB peripherals working.

ive gotten it to install with boot132 dfe 146 for DG35EC by sliptees and retail. but if i try chameleon 2 RC1 with options uhci ehci checked i get ehci could not handoff from bios issue so no usb sticks work. if i dissable usb legacy then i cant type 80 or anything til full usb2 takes over. what drivers should i use generic 2.0 or orBytes ? .. is there kext package for this board? i know audio and vid dont work(gfx9800GT 512). i had alc888 on ich7 on D945GCNL working but ich10R is totally different i guess and optical audio? hard to get. i dissabled HD codec in bios to see if i get lucky with different azalia audio mixes.. or ac97 for ich10 alc888 IDT SSSharer has a linux codec dump and name of chip but no sound yet so its time to find pin config guide on this board.

i bet its hard with no vista and if i turn off the hdaudio codec in bios audio is on.. would the pin config change (likely)

 

it doesnt have an option for UHCI handoff like other brand boards P45.

anyone ever played with UEFI ? or intel integrator toolkit to get the mac logo? :rolleyes:

Just updated to Chameleon 2.0rc, now I can use the graphical menu to choose between my OSx drive or my Vista drive. Boots perfect every time. After adding teh video card and audio card - every single Apple function works 100%.

Thanks Underball THE USB WORKS!! . i also use chameleon 2 RC1 but if i check in options ehci and uhi i get yellow lines in booting.. i wonder if the usbkext u linked might fix this ? what options u checked in chameleon 2 RC1 ?

 

for the ones wishing for audio heres the IDT thread to keep an eye on. sssharer has a linux codec dump but nobody has done proper pin config ;)

 

btw.. lets get together and figure out this dg45id sound? or you are happy with other sound? teamviewer works on osx for remote :D

I tried for a couple of weeks to get DG45id sound working, and got nowhere. The USB soundcard I got works great, no kexts or drivers to install, fully Mac OS plug 7 Play - and it was only $30.

 

I wasn't getting yellow lines, but before I used the USB kext, - I couldn't use USB devices other than mouse & keyboard with USB Legacy enabled in the BIOS, but with it disabled - I couldn't interact with chameleon (or Vista's native bootloader for that matter). this fixes the USB devices with Legacy USB enabled issue.

P.S. to flash bios set sata to legacy so iso from intel flash can read sata optical drive :D (took me a few mins to realize)

It's a little slow. What firmware are you on?

 

go to the Intel site and download the latest 0091, I think.

 

also - disable any boot options you don't need, like Network Boot or USB Boot, or Wake on LAN. It posts much faster with minimal boot options.

yeah i did all that im a winblowz tech since 99 :D

strange i thought i recovery update from cd with .bio file and bios jumper pulled, it loaded and restarted after 2 mins like intel said so i should be on .91 but im gona check again.(edit oops somehow im still on .77 seems recovery works same version on board allready?) i also entered intel management engine and disabled it. yet it shows up on post guess its normal.

network is slow on osx driver i tried removing appleHPET.kext no difference.

thanks u been the missing link on this boards osx functionality of usb.

I used the AppleIntel82577.kext for the network - I get decent speeds on internet and torrent. full bandwidth. finds my local network shares pretty easily too.

 

Only thing I'm not satisfied with the network printing to an epson printer that is attached to a Windows XP machine shared. I can see it, connect, and even print to it using the default Apple Epson PS drivers, but it prints only black and white and I have no dpi/image quality options. But when I download the proper Mac OS drivers from Epson's support site - it only installs them for printers that are directly connected to the Mac. It doesn't add the updated drivers to the list for network shared printers.

interesting. i wonder if u remove the printer in apple from network prior to installing. or it could be driver bug no network.

 

i have intel82566MM.kext from tootoosoft .. im gona try that one .. wait is it AppleIntel8255x.kext where did u get it.?

il google it but didnt find anything maybe different name ?

 

Edit: P.S. dotn turn on PEG compliance check in .91 bios with gfx 9800gt.. no post ? ;) bios recovery jumper off and cd :P

You could probably use the one on XxX 10.5.6. They have an Intel82566MM.kext. I had to select that one along with the IONetworkingFamily.kext. Now the LAN works great.

 

As for the audio, it looks like getting a cheapo USB audio is the path of least resistance until one of the IDT experts figures out how to run it on this board. Or until I find some extra time to play around with it, already wasted a couple of hours on it.

New USB driver linked by Underball works great. I also updated to BIOS ID0091 and it is WAY faster and seems to work better as well.

 

The best thing is the annoying, freak you out, PROCHOT text is no longer there. I HATED that pointless text. Of course it still doesn't tell you the actual temp of the CPU but oh well.

 

Also using "Graphics Mode"="1600x1200x32" works great to get you a usable screen.

 

Now to try my 8800 GTX... didn't work before.

Anyone have sleep issues with this board ? i think the USB drivers posted here have issues with sleep. im going to try the usb 2.0 by slice and see if it works.

 

I don't use sleep as I like to be able to access my machines remotely and once they go into sleep mode you can't.

unless remote wakeup is suported (is it?)

which is fun to mess with in this board in ME firmware.

im testing a new driver for usb with mwakeup. will post it here after testing. i have limited time with this pc. the owner is finaly out of jail and wants it back :D

Do you have to change any bios settings with this board, all I've done is disable all the boot options other then like hard drive and cd/dvd, I've burned iDeneb 1.4 and I get the circle slash, that is all I've done with this short of building it, any ideas on how to fix it?

If you need to know, it's the dg45id motherboard, with E8500 Intel Core 2 Duo, and MSI Radeon 4850.

Are there patches for 1.4 that I'm not finding, I could really use some help....
