Intel High Definition Audio:

Available Devices:

I installed iPC 10.5.6 on two Asus P5K-Pro boards with ALC883 and (system) sound is working as we speak (listening to songs in iTunes).

my audio doesn't work either.

ipc 10.5.6

system profiler gives this:

and i have no ouput devices in the audio screen

thanks

In the P5K-Pro BIOS you can select: HD Audio or AC'97 under Front Panel Type. Which one have you selected?

Are you using a vanilla (unpatched) iPC version, or one patched with PPFn (n is number) and if yes, which one?

Which options did you select during the installation?

Edit: Keep an eye on this thread since it eventually might help you!

big thx to CycloneFr and THe KiNG

Does yours work indefinetely, i am using tarugas kext for my alc883 but unfortunately my sounds ceases to work after puttin it to use for about an hour or 2. Is funny that if i leave the computer on all day and night and if i play something after leaving it on for that long the sound works. But if i listen to music continously for about an hour or 2 the sound will stop working, and will not work again until i restart.

Mine shows up in the System Profiler, but not in the Sounds portion of System Preferences. It's a strange one, I have the exact kexts you're referring to. I'm on a P5KC on 10.5.6

I followed the 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 guide at GTDMarc blog

Ok, I spoke directly with the guy who runs the GTDMarc blog and now I have my sound working, the AppleHDA file I got from this forum topic is 1.2MB where as the one I got from him is 3.2MB (and no longer causes Kernel panics).

So, you guys want it? Of course you do! Here's the working AppleHDA.kext (use it with HDAEnabler.kext) for ALC883 on 10.5.6

Please help,

Cannot make my sound work on 10.5.6 on my MSI S262 laptop. The HdaPatcher is not working for no reason - no reaction when I drag the codec dump to it.

My sound is:

I was having kernel panics on 10.5.8 using the AppleHDA.kext (and HDAEnabler.kext) from the 10.4.8 thread for ALC883, but was having random KP's. My filesize was also 1.2Mb, giving this one a shot. So far things are working better...thanks! Hopefully this holds up.
