wkearney99
I've got an Intel BOXD945GCLF mobo (atom 230 based) setup and can't quite seem to get the GMA950 to work at anything other than 1024x768. The mobo has a PCI slot and I'm wondering if it might be better to just use that for a video card instead. My question is what PCI cards are available that will work without excessive hacks? This is a pretty low-end box so I don't really need anything fancy. I'd only bother springing for a more expensive card if it was known to support H.264 or 1080i video output from movies. The case (an Apex MI-100) has room for a full size PCI card but I'd go with a low-profile one if possible, or ideally one that didn't require it's own fan or lots of power. So what low to mid-range PCI video cards will work out of the box with Leopard? CPT_MAC
Same question from my side on Dec. 29th. No answer so far. I think the only graphic cards for PCI bus still on the market are ATI 9000 / 9250 or nvida FX 5200 / 5500. Please correct me if I am wrong. However in the mean while I got a PCI BUS ATI radeon 9250 graphic card. Vendor: ATI (0x8086) Device ID: 0x5960 according to the device id it is a ATI 9200 PRO ?? Version ID: 0x0001 Only one resolution, no kext loaded, no qe / ci and also no sleep. (Leopard 10.5.6) So it is pretty much useless without the proper kext which I have not found. I would love to use video out but this is not supported either. So, anyone using a PCI graphic card with kext for 10.5.x. realityiswhere
The GeForce 6200 (PCI) is supported, same with PCI FX5200 (no transparent menu, but you do get QE/CI), and the Sparkle 8500GT is as well I believe, but I'm only 100% sure on the first two. CPT_MAC
Thanks to realityiswher for the quick resonce. I got a ZOTAC FX5200 card today Vendor: 0x10de Device: 0x0322 Version: 0x00A1 after installing NVinjet.kext I messed up my installation. Maybe because i foregot to check the proper device id. However at the moment i am stuck with the IPC 10.5.6 installation. In the IPC distrobution ist also a nvidia ktex for cards older than FX6200. I will post asap i have a result. In the meanwhile i saw a new topic for FX5200 on this board, so obviously more are working on the same project. Forgive my ignorance, but a GeForce 6200 could be installed on a laptop, yes? Is it fully supported to the extent that it functions exactly how it would on a Mac? I'm considering shelling out the 40 bucks for some nice display options... No, a GeForce 6200 is a normal, desktop, PCI card. You would need to find a mobile card version that is supported and make sure that the slot for it works for your particular laptop. MaaseyRacer
I have seen NVIDIA 8400 and 9400 PCI cards on newegg. I know those cards have PCI-E support, but I am not sure about PCI. kenneth__888
Is it possible to have a PCI-E video card and a PCI video card to have more than 2 total displays in total? doobiebro
thinking about ordering this (see below), would it work, you think? I have a D945GCLF2 board, currently an Ati HD2400 pro PCI in it, but even with all the methods I could find on the net and this forum don't seem to be working (only have a blue screen currently) I can still return it so I think I'm going to do that and get either one of the cards below, 'cause basically I think they'll be less of a hassle: -Sparkle SP94GT1024D2L-HPP GeForce 9400 GT 1024MB PCI -Sparkle SF-PC84GS256U2LP-P GeForce 8400 GS 256 MB PCI<-i think I would prefer this one, it's in my pricerange and is pretty recent, but I don't know about compatibility. -Club3D 6200 PCI 256MB I can only find one retailer that sells the first two, and plenty that sell the last one, I'm just trying to figure out which one is the best, also looking at the future . Any help would be greatly appreciated! btw I kept searching the osx86 hardware database frequently but no info at all seems to be put in there.. sup wit dat? cheers *EDIT* apparently the 9400 GT runs without a hitch, according to this post, so I'm gonna get that! thought I'd share for all you who are still looking for it. **EDIT** I got the sparkle 9400GT Running, but it's not the best deal i think, you can follow my progress here cheers!
